ZE Drivetrain CVT

Description
Connect the blue composite node to any cylinder directly.
Do not insert extra logic gates between the RPS and clutch nodes.
Do not insert extra logic gates between the composite cylinder node and the LUA script.

Drivetrain that combines modular engine control, continuously variable transmission, quick smooth brakes, and cruise control. Transmission is based on a partially engaged modular clutch that does not require any gearboxes to seamlessly change the amount of torque applied to the wheels.
  • Engine control maintains the constant engine RPS for the idle and full throttle states with smooth transition. Supports turbocharged and naturally aspirated modular engines. The supercharger will be most efficient if it pumps the air pressure measured by the pressure sensor above 90 units.
  • There is a slightly simplified version of engine controller with the most optimal parameters for stoichiometry, enabled engine autostart and overheat protection.
  • To engage reverse in WASD mode, press the brake key second time after vehicle completely stops.
  • Transmission requires only one reverse gearbox with second ratio 1:-1. You can adjust the top speed by changing its first ratio and triangles direction.
  • Decrease the CVT sensitivity slider if RPS starts to jitter, or increase it if the RPS drops too low while accelerating.
  • The low gear is emulated by simultaneously lowering clutch pressure and throttle. If you want to have a real low gear with different gear ratio, add an extra gearbox for it, and increase the low gear max throttle slider to 1.
  • Optional cruise control will maintain the current speed and can be disabled manually by pressing the brake key, or automatically with node for emergency deactivation. If you dont need the cruise control feature, you can remove all three nodes to shrink the controller and save some space.
  • Increase the throttle axis sensitivity to about 20% to accelerate faster.

    Version with 8-speed transmission.

Make sure the engine is powerful enough to get the desired RPS at full throttle, and increase the gear ratio on your gearbox.

cant get this thing to go above around 6.2 m/s, any idea why?

Yes.

Is it okay to use this in creations I publish on the WS? With credits ofc.

Ohhhh! Right, i totally forgot about that, thank you! Such an amazing Controller, great work!

You can switch the reverse engagement from WASD to reverse node in the controller properties.

Oh another thing - how can i get this to work on my boat with a throttle lever? i mean i can get it to run, but i cant get reverse running.

Awesome work. Did anyone already suggested brake lights? :D Would ba nice addition.

The modular clutch is maxed at 0.8 if the current rps is no lower than target rps, because there almost no extra engine torque passes through the clutch above that number and it smooths out the torque load on the engine.

Started using this over the simple one. Why does my clutch pressure only max out at .63 on my boat? Im not using my full rps/torque that way
