Description

DESCRIPTION
The AgustaWestland AW80 "Sparrow" is a light general purpose naval utility helicopter designed by AgustaWestland for usage on small to medium sized vessels. The AW80 has its routes far back to the first helicopters fielded by the Newquay Armed Forces, with it going through several different iterations across the years before eventually being replaced by larger and much more advanced helicopters, such as the AW270 "Argyll" & AW265 "Gyrfalcon". Presently, the AW80 has mostly been shelved or placed into reserve leading only to a few AW80s properly being maintained and being in service. The AW80 presented several experimental technologies to the Newquay Armed Forces, such as being the first helicopter to implement autopilot, a tilting rotor and automatic stabilisation, all of which would find use within later helicopter models.

START-UP PROCEDURE:
As the helicopter is designed partially to resemble that of an older helicopter model, the startup procedure is slightly more arduous and therefore more care must be made to prevent the helicopter from stalling/failing to start.

Holding the ignition switch before the engine has hit 0.5RPS will lead to a stall, similarly pressing the clutch before the ignition switch has been pressed will also lead to a stall.

- BATTERY RELAY
- ENGINE RELAY
- AVIONICS RELAY
- GENERATORS RELAY

- ENGINE FUEL PUMP
- ENGINE MASTER

- WAIT FOR ENGINE TO HIT 0.5RPS, THEN HOLD ENGINE IGNITION FOR 5 SECONDS.

- WAIT FOR ENGINE TO GAIN SIGNIFICANTLY MORE RPS THEN PRESS ENGINE ROTOR CLUTCH
- ENGINE FLIGHT RPS

- NAVIGATION LIGHTS
FEATURES:
- 105kts Top Speed.
- Compatibility with all Newquay Weapons Pack weapons.
- Able to send GPS coordinates to hardpoints, allowing for torpedo guidance.
- Autopilot.
- Stability disable switch allowing for high-agility manoeuvres.

Engine start button does nothing, followed the steps. Maybe a logic connection got misplaced.

@Shaku Kohaki Vendell

Thankyou! It's an intriguing feature of it, it's essentially the autopilot compensating for the torque of the rotors, everything still works fine and it'll keep going straight. I'm not too sure how it occurs however it doesn't cause too much of an issue and it can just be a trait of it I suppose lol.

It wants to roll about 20 degrees to starboard when under Autopilot. Flies fine, and the AP roll is not a problem, but it's certainly a curiosity. It's a bit less overwhelming than most NAF craft. I like it!
