R-Class Ocean Liner

Here is the R-Class Ocean Liner of the "Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company" (P&O).

There were 4 ships in the class, Ranchi, Ranpura, Rawalpindi, and Rajputana, and all served the London to Bombay route. When WW2 began, all ships were converted into armed merchant cruisers. Of the 4 ships, 2 of them were lost, Rawalpindi and Rajputana. Rawalpindi was sunk on November 23rd, 1939 by the battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. Hopelessly outgunned, she fought against them anyway and sank with the loss of 238 men, including her captain. Rajputana was sunk on April 13th, 1941 by the submarine U-108. Her survivors were rescued by the destroyer HMS Legion. In 1943, Ranpura was converted into a repair ship, and Ranchi into a troop ship. After the war, Ranchi was used carried P.O.W.s that were released from Japanese camps. She was later given back to P&O where she continued her regular passenger service. She briefly served as an emigrant ship before being scrapped in 1953. Ranpura continued her service with the Royal Navy as a fleet deposit ship before being scrapped in 1961. She also took part in the Suez Crisis in 1956.

The model is also realistically scaled, so use Collision Resizer if you want to make it smaller.
