Thank you for the support and opinion about this all. Actually, it’s glad to see what we have such people in the community. True will win imho!

I see. But regardless of that. I'm really thankful about what you and your dev partner did with They Hunger for Half-Life Source.

Even if 99.99% of users will think They Hunger is shit because of that terrible addon on Gmod. At least the people who actually care will still try to play it through a better way. Either by experiencing it through a more intended way like finding a way to install and play the original They Hunger through Half-Life (specially since Valve gave the game away for free), or will give your HL:Source project a go to see how the new engine changes the experience.

You know, maybe you're right. I like to think positively, and it's hard to disagree with you. The problem is, I don't have any examples of this 'promo' working successfully. So, I think we should discuss this issue later, maybe when I port the campaign myself. I might agree to remove it then, but for now, there's no alternative. I understand how long it is to port to GMod - it's a lot of work. In general, I'll think about it some more. Maybe it's not worth keeping such low-quality work. Lately, I haven't been very involved in development, and to be honest, I'm not that interested in addons. In the past. The dev friend and I discussed this point for a little time, and then we decided that there was no need to pay attention to such things.

My problem is that 99.99% of the users that play Gmod, are kids who don't even know how to use google. So when they find that They Hunger addon, they are just going to assume that that's the intended experience and assume that They Hunger is just shit in general, which I have seen many people say that based on that addon on the workshop being their first and only experience with the project.

Boomers usually call kids "the digital generation", but the truth is that they barely know how to nagivate a computer, let alone do a simple google search or at least read a description.

Reminds me to the Half-Life: Resized project. That even though the description is filled with big words in bold telling people that they need to own Half-Life Source in order to play the resized maps and explaining why like 5 times in a row. They still get comments complaining that is just all missing textures and error icons.

Promotion just doesn't exist for kids, as that would imply they can read.

Btw this person didn't just quickly make the addon - they even decompiled the maps as far i know. They're just inexperienced and a little lack respect, probably because of their age. They'll learn someday.

Actually, I even think that such low-quality addons work in my favor. It's like a kind of 'promo' - more people will get to know about they hunger, and they hunger source anyway.

Don't pay attention to those 'devs'. I contacted him and he added the credits, but when I checked his addon with a friend, I was disappointed by its poor quality. I'm not too bothered when my work is stolen, since I've done the same in the past - I often port content without permission from the original authors. However, I at least try to put in some effort. For me, it's become a usual routine, and I don't get emotional about it anymore. In the past, I used to report reuploads, but it's hard to keep track. Some people take my work and don't even give me credit. It's disappointing, but you don't need to be overly protective. Anyone who wants to know the author will find out imho

I even talked about that with the person that was trying to port Blue Shift into Source. And he mentioned that what happened to you guys, happened to him too. Where a kid from Russia just took his content without permission and while giving some vague credit to him, he still tried to act like he was the one directing the project in his ModDB repost.
