Special thanks to Sadin for allowing me to use resources from his mod, Staves of Skyrim.
Many thanks to anyone who has given a positive rating!

This mod is part of the Improved Artifacts Collection, which can be found at this link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=204157051

Improved stats for the Staff of Magnus.

A variety of customization options for the Staff of Magnus.

Five new unique staves, including the Aetherial Staff of Teleportation, the Staff of Brightflame, the Staff of the Horde, the Staff of Impairment and the Oblivious Blackstaff.

A small player home called Heartwood Cottage in which can be found the Oblivious Blackstaff.

ORIGINAL STATS
Value: 1468 (Same as the Staff of the Frost Wall)
Weight: 8 (Standard staff weight)
Casting Type: Concentration (a continuous stream of energy)
Enchantment: Absorb 20 magicka per second. If the target has no magicka, absorbs health instead.
Charge: 5000/106= 47 seconds

NEW STATS
Value: 50,000 (essentially priceless)
Weight: 8
Casting Type: Fire and Forget (a single bolt of energy that inflicts damage over an area and may strike multiple opponents at once)
Enchantment: Drains X points of health, Y points of which is absorbed by you. Absorbs magicka when equipped.
Charge: 0/0 = unlimited charge

When equipped and unsheathed, the Staff of Magnus will absorb 12 point of Magicka per second from all nearby enemy targets whenever your magicka is depleted. The effect will not alert enemies to your presence. If your health dips below 25%, you will also absorb magicka from allies, but this effect will not cause allies to attack you.

When cast, the Staff inflicts health damage and health absorption. The strength of this effect matches your level. For example, at level 50, the staff will inflict 50 points of damage and restore 25 points of your own health. Although it is levelled by default, you can customize the amount of damage inflicted by the staff using console commands. See the MCM Menu and Customization section below.

Finally, you will also be granted the Light of Magnus power. The Staff of Magnus, when equipped and unsheathed, will light up the surrounding area, and the Light of Magnus power allows you to switch this on and off. This effect is taken directly from Sadrin’s Staves of Skyrim, and all credit goes to him for making this effect possible.

This mod has several customization options that can be adjusted through the use of console commands (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console_Commands). To use the commands, open up the console commands section and type: “Set A to B”, where A is the command name and B is a value. The commands and their effects are given below.

For those with SkyUI, all customization options can be adjusted through the use of an MCM menu.

(PLEASE NOTE: When making changes without the use of the MCM menu, you will have to un-equip and then re-equip the Staff of Magnus before the effects are felt)

ZSMAllowVisuals (Possible Values: 1 or 0)
Default: 1
When set to 1, the magicka absorption visualization will appear whenever active. I personally enjoy the visuals, but I predict there are those who will find them annoying. When set to 0, the visuals will not appear.

ZSMDamageMultiplier (Possible Values: any)
Default: 100
The amount of damage inflicted by the Staff of Magnus is determined by your level. However, you can increase or decrease this amount using this command. By default, the multiplier is set to 100, meaning that 100% of the damage is inflicted. However, if set to 200 (for example), the Staff will inflict 200% damage (i.e. double damage). Make it 50, and half the damage is inflicted. Use this command to set the damage to the value you want.

ZSMDamageMinimum
Default: 20
This dictates the absolute minimum amount of damage the Staff of Magnus can inflict. This is particularly useful at lower levels when the staff will inflict a very small amount of damage unless you set the minimum higher.

ZSMAbsorbPercentage (Possible Values: 0 – 100)
Default: 50
The Staff of Magnus absorbs a percentage of the damage it inflicts, restoring your health. By default, it absorbs 50%. For example, if the staff inflicts 50 points of damage, your health is restored 25 points (this makes the total damage to the target 50 points, not 75 points; these effects don’t stack). You can use this command to customize the amount of health you absorb from the damage inflicted. If set to 100 or higher, all the damage is absorbed. If set to 0, none of it is.

ZSMStaggerChance (Possible Values: 0 – 100)
Default: 50
This is the chance the Staff of Magnus has of staggering the target.

OBLIVIOUS BLACKSTAFF
Enchantment: Makes the target oblivious to your movements for 30 seconds, making you almost completely undetectable to the target.
Charge: 3000/300 = 10 uses
Location: Heartwood Cottage

Heartwood Cottage is a new player home located on the Western bank of Lake Honrich in the Rift (see the pictures section above for the exact location). They key to this home can be found in possession of a Redguard named Rhano, whose body can be found in Treva’s Watch.

STAFF OF BRIGHTFLAME
Enchantment: Creates up to 5 bright bonfires that will illuminate the surrounding area and provide warmth for 60 seconds. (For those with Frostfall, this can be used to warm up the player when cold)

Though not included in the description, the Staff of Brightflame also inflicts 20 points of damage, and it has a 50% chance of staggering undead targets.
Charge: 1500/12 = 125 uses
Location: In a small, locked room in Embershard Mine

STAFF OF THE HORDE
Enchantment: Summons a horde of Skeletons to surround a target for 60 seconds.
Charge: 1500/100 = 15 uses
Location: In Rannveig’s Fast on a table in the Necromancer’s dungeons below

AETHERIAL STAFF OF TELEPORTATION Enchantment: Teleports you to the target location. If cast on a foe, teleports the target to you instead.
Charge: 3000/150 = 20 uses
Location: In the vault in Deep Folk Ruins, a small Dwarven ruins (see the pictures section above for the exact location).

ROD OF IMPAIRMENT
Enchantment: Impairs the target by slowing down movement and preventing spell casting for 30 seconds.
Charge: 3000/50 = 60 uses
Location: Cradle Stone Tower, an unmarked Nordic tower west of Bard’s Leap Summit.

Some users may find the Staff of Magnus light effects acting a little buggy when loading old save files. This can easily be fixed by un-equipping and re-equipping the Staff.

Will this mod conflict with the College of Winterhold quest line?
Having tested the Staff, I have found it works perfectly with the College of Winterhold quest line. If, however, you are experiencing problems, see this link for a solution: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=282673025

Where can I find the new staves?
The location of each staff is listed in the description above. If the location seems unfamiliar to you, I recommend looking up the location on this website: www.uesp.net

does anyone know if *ALL* the storage containers in Heartwood Cottage are safe? including the dressers, end tables, and "Mead Barrel"?

erm, just a quick update to that: the staff of Magnus is now permanently glitched in my hand, no matter which savegame I load (even ones previous to downloading the mod). it even appears in my hand when starting a new game, though unuseable, I'm going to try and unsub and see if it fixes itself...

I like it, but I have an issue with Magnus's staff: nothing to do with it working or not (it works fine), but I prefered it when Magnus's staff had a continuous effect, rather than a "charge and zap" effect... I hadn't really seen it in the description, but going back, it is included! it's more a gameplay preference, more than an actual issue. I'll be keeping the mod for the other staves, but I'm looking to see if I can get another mod which will change Magnus's one back... or if I can modofy a file, somewhere, or IDK... anyway, great mod!:steamhappy:

So, you're saying that we can get an overpowered staff at the beginning of the game by going into Embershard mine? THANKS XD

Overall, I find that the mod is quite good and all but when you want to acquire the Aetherial Staff of Teleportation, whether it is actually bugged or not, as a note of critical feedback i'd suggest that since the puzzle is actually too vague in it's solution, (either that or a bug) then maybe perhaps add a sort of "hint" letter on the merc's corpse simplying a sentance of how some mechanisms work.

Overall, good mod, just a tad quirky.
