Command and Arma - Tiberian Dawn - Factions

Description
This is a fan project meant to be an adaptation of Westwood/EA's Command and Conquer franchise into the Arma game and setting. This mod focuses on the factions from the first game entry of the C&C series, Tiberian Dawn: the Brotherhood of Nod (Nod) and the Global Defense Initiative (GDI), each split into two theaters, Europe and Africa.

This project is not meant to be a direct port of C&C into Arma.
The world and events of this mod universe differ from the source material to be a little more grounded in reality and match with Arma’s squad focussed gameplay instead of an RTS.

This mod will be used to develop adaptations of both the Nod and GDI campaigns from the RTS.

The Tiberium World in Arma

Similar to the original C&C lore, Hitler did not rise to power in Germany but a second world war did occur and was fought between Stalin’s unbridled Soviet Union and a coalition of Allied Forces from 1939-1952 (C&C Red Alert). After Stalin’s defeat, all Soviet occupied territories were freed and the Soviet Union was divided into multiple independent Russian countries.

Tiberium was discovered in Italy in 1976 and was quickly recognized as a valuable resource. In a few years, Tiberium fields were found growing all over the world. The first major Tiberian harvesting and refining company formed in 1981 as NOD Industries, which would go on to become a major influencer in international politics.

An extremist group also emerged around this time called The Brotherhood of Nod, which NOD Industries constantly denied affiliations with, that was found to be working with every major terrorist organization and dictatorhsip around the world. In response, the UN Security Commission formed a task force to conduct operations targeting the Brotherhood, known as Special Operations Group Echo, Black Ops 9. The conflict between these two groups would eventually come to a head in 1985 in a major military conflict on a mid-atlantic island chain known as the Everon Crisis.

This event would reveal the existence of SOG Echo to the world and cause public backlash against the UN for the amount of collateral damage and loss of life that occurred. However, this also exposed that NOD Industries was funding the Brotherhood and that the terrorists had a charismatic and elusive leader known only as Kane. After Everon, and facing mounting pressure for accountability, the UN Commission worked with the G7 nations to create the United Nations Global Defense Act, officially founding the Global Defense Initiative to counter the increasing power of the Brotherhood of Nod and contain the global spread of Tiberium.

By 1992, NOD Industries was an economic superpower with an intricate knowledge of Tiberium. NOD dependent countries had gained most of the world's Tiberium assets due to superior harvesting technology, and with the derived wealth at the Brotherhood’s disposal, Kane made the crucial decision to reveal himself to the world and that NOD Industries was the economic branch of the Brotherhood. The organization would now openly contend with the GDI on all political, media and military fronts. Though the Brotherhood had been extremely successful in utilizing such tactics in the past, the scale of this venture was now unlike any operation before. Nod began to consolidate control over its territories and build up its military thanks to its economic might and requisition of sympathetic nations’ assets.

Tiberian Dawn, The First Tiberian War

In 1995, after a series of high profile urban bombings, the UN Security Committee entered a closed session and permitted GDI to engage Nod openly, thus starting the First Tiberium War that would end in 1999. The two theaters where most of the war took place were in central eastern Europe and the entirety of Africa. Nod would go on to make major gains in the war by conquering all of Africa, even though they would eventually lose the war after major defeats in Europe. Although Kane would be defeated, Nod did not dissolve despite his apparent demise, and the two world powers would enter into another global conflict thirty years later.

NOD Units
Nod units primarily use a lot of ChDKZ vehicles because of similar aesthetics. Their european units typically wear masks as a reflection of their terrorist origins, and their African units consist of a mix of middle easterners and africans recruited from the local populaces. Their gear is mostly made up of old soviet armaments, because of its cheap costs and plentiful availability which allowed them to develop a global army in the short time they had to do so. All Nod units wear urban camo to reflect their signature gray colored units from the original game.

GDI Units
GDI units and vehicles use variations of desert camo to reflect their signature tan faction color from the original game. The primary force of their infantry look very similar to the US army from the 90s. In this universe, the US recalled their international military presence to focus on containing the rapid spread of Tiberium back home. However, to honor the UN intervention during the Everon Crisis, they agreed to become the primary arms supplier for the GDI, and ended up handing down a lot of their equipment after implementing an isolationist policy. One particular branch of the GDI that stands out is the African Guard, which is a coalition defense force of GDI allied African countries, made up of former warlords and peacekeepers, funded by the UN. They are less equipped and trained than GDI’s main fighting force, and it is believed that Nod’s conquest over Africa was a result of GDI’s heavy reliance on them while deploying the bulk of their fighting force in Europe.

These units would almost perfectly fit the idea I have for a Micro Machines Military "Freedom Force" vs "Terror Troops" mod that I'm looking at putting together. Good inspiration
