MPM-1U "Alcyone" anti-shipping attack bomber

The MPM-1U (Medium Patrol, Maritime 1 Upgraded) is a maritime strike aircraft intended to attack enemy commercial shipping convoys and other surface targets. Named "Alcyone" after that greek lady who got turned into a kingfisher bird by the gods¹, it was designed in the 1930s as a conventional medium bomber, but was beaten by other designs in that role due to its slower speed. It was repurposed to attack naval targets with good success due to its range, durability, and good weapons load. The -1U designation is for a further specialised variant, armed with a torpedo and additional external bombs and rockets.

Max level speed: 57 M/S fully loaded, 62 M/S empty (this plane is a thicc girl²)

Takeoff speed: about 35-40 M/S

Fuel: 3620 Litres of diesel, max fuel consumption is .5 litres per second, giving a flight time of about 2 hours

Dimensions: 18.75 metres wingspan, 15.5 metres length, 6.75 metres height

WEAPONS:

6x unguided rockets, 2 small warheads each

10x unguided bombs, 1 small warhead each

1x unguided torpedo, 1 medium warhead³

2x LAC, nose mounted, fixed, 200 rounds each

1x nose turret houses 1 machine gun, WASD aimed

1x dorsal turret, houses 2 machine guns, mouse aimed

1x Huge Radio (radio position in frontal area)

STARTUP PROCEDURE:

flick the "engine L on", "engine R on", and "Cooling systems" switches on the right-middle of the front control panel

use throttle lever to control engine RPS

use arrow keys OR the buttons on the bottom-right of the controls to control propellor collective

remember to disable the parking brake before moving (next to the cooling system switch)

Canopy controls are on the left side of the seat. NOTE: the canopy will "slip" a little during flight, you can just scoot it back forward (or fly with the canopy open, which I prefer)

Weapons arming switches are to the right of the artifical horizon
