Varied Empire Sizes

Description
Varied Empire Sizes

Have you ever wanted the power structure in the galaxy to be more varied? Are you tired of every AI empire being roughly equally sized? Annoyed that you keep getting beat to your precursors homeland and missing out on the relic?

This mod might fix two of those issues!

Varied Empire Sizes is an extremely simple mod that adds an event for every single star empire at the start of the game that allows you to choose (either by yourself or randomly) what kind of buffs or nerfs to your expansion you will get. The AI will always select the option that randomises the outcome.

The buffs themselves are solely meant for increasing or decreasing expansion speed and diplomacy, with the idea that some star empires will grow much larger than usual, while others - remain small. Hopefully this results in a power structure more similar to the historic precedent, where some end up as large great powers, while others remain small, powerless minor powers who require the protection of others. A true mod for offensive realists!

FAQ

Is this mod compatible with [mod]?

Yes.
Should be, anyhow. This doesn't overwrite any files.

Is this ironman compatible?

Nope, as it modifiers gameplay.

Can you add or change [feature]?

Probably not - I meant for this mod to be as lightweight as possible. If you want to change the given modifiers or % chance to get one of the modifiers, feel free to edit the mod or change it. If you want a guide on how to do it, ask and I'll make one!

The mod is out-of-date!

Shouldn't matter for the foreseeable future unless Paradox drastically changes how events and modifiers work.

There is, but you'll have to find the mod in your steam workshop folder and edit it in the respective file, and probably set it up as a separate mod to prevent updates resetting it back.

If you're not mod-savvy, I can give you a more in-depth guide if you need it.

I thought the idea of uncharted or no-mans space was really cool instead of the whole galaxy becoming developed, is there an option to extend duration of the empire size modifier?

Not quite. The mod only will really affect the early game as the modifiers both only last for 75 years and are expansion-centric so once the galaxy is more-or-less colonised, the modifiers won't impact much, which is why I didn't really worry about savegame compatibility - the event for it fires right at the start of the game and while it won't break anything if you add it to an existing save, it won't do anything either.

If you want, though, I could try and make it savegame compatible somehow, but I don't think it'll achieve much.

Looks awesome. Is it savegame compatible?
