The Volvo 200 Series is a series of mid—range cars produced by the Swedish company Volvo Cars from 1974 to 1993. In total, about 2.8 million cars were produced and sold.[3]. As in the case of its predecessor, the Volvo 140, the design of the car was handled by Jan Wilsgard. The 200-series cars were produced for some time in parallel with the 700-series, which appeared in 1982. As the Model 240 remained quite popular, the Model 260 was replaced by the 700 series, sold alongside the Model 240 for the next decade. The 700 series was replaced a year before the 240 model was discontinued. Production of the 200 series ended in 1993, after almost 20 years of production.
