Description
Powered Armor Rigging

Abstract
Introduces a Proving Ground project that increases the number of utility slots granted by powered armor.

Overview
This mod adds a Proving Ground project, called Powered Armor Rigging, that is unlocked with Powered Armor research. After completing this project, all soldiers that have a Powered Armor equipped (including Heavy and Light versions, and Faction and Spark variants) will get an additional utility slot. The tech requires 5 Engineers and some Muton corpses. Yes, this tech is a strict XCOM buff that adds to the late game power creep of XCOM, but utility items are fun and more utility items are more fun.

Configuration
This mod is highly configurable.
In XComStrategyTuning.ini the reader can edit the costs and requirements for this tech, as well as the time it takes to complete it.
In XComPoweredArmorRigging.ini it is possible to edit which armor tech levels will be affected by this project (this project can affect multiple techs, so for example it can affect both plated and powered tech-level armors). It is also possible to allow/disallow this tech to effect individual armors, by adding them to a blacklist or to a whitelist. Lastly, the number of utility slots granted by this tech is configurable. An exercise to the reader is to determine what happens if the same armor is added to both the whitelist and the blacklist.

Compatibility
Should be compatible with most things. Did not test with LWOTC, but some people reported it to work. If you edit the tech to also affect Kevlar tech level, then this might not work correctly if also used with WIO. This can be easily fixed, but since this is far from the intended use case of the mod, this support is not provided by default.
Can be used in existing campaigns.

Required Mods
All required mods are strictly required.

Known Issues
  • For this mod to affect correctly the Rage Armor, you will need the following mod. This is actually a base game bug by Firaxis.

Thank you!

It applies to all armors in the game that have the "powered" ArmorTechCat property.
The holographic armor does in fact have this property this way, so it should work on it too.

The mod certainly looks interesting! Wanted to ask if it applies to all Powered tier armors, even mod-added ones, or only base game armors? Would Holographic Disguise from Infiltrator Disguises mod receive the bonus?

ok, so I update the description to say it works with lwotc, and if anyone has any issues then I hold you responsible, ok? :P /s

Tried it with LWOTC. Works just fine. Doesn't automatically update the UI, so you need to go into the soldier's inventory to see the change, but it does work.

Just finished a campaign with about 685 mods, this one included, and had no major issues! Thanks for putting this up.
