Description
Meet the Nachtjager Mk.I "Wolfshund'!
It's my first workshop build in nearly a year, so give me some grace!

Overview
The Nachtjager Mk.1 "Wolfshund", Night-Hunter "Wolfhound" in English, is a fictional twin piston-engine heavy fighter originally built to hunt aircraft during the night and/or in poor weather conditions. As work went on, its potent forward armament and pylon system made it a formidable attack aircraft in the hands of a skilled pilot.

Now after being quality-assurance tested to the brink of my sanity, the Wolf is ready to fly. There's a manual below with the specs for more info:

Recommended Startup & Takeoff Procedure
  • Have you and your crew (if you have one) take their allotted seats and close the canopy.
  • Find the "Battery" switch near the bottom of the central row of instrument panels and switch it on.
  • Now find the "Pump Fuel From Wing Tanks" switch to the upper right of the battery panel and switch it on.
  • Now find the "Engine 1" and "Engine 2" switches to the far right and switch them on. The engines should be running
  • Now go back to where the battery was, and below it is the "Release Wheel Brakes". Switch it on.
  • Now go back to the rightmost part of the cockpit and set the "Engine Throttle" lever to .15.
  • Now taxi onto the runway. Steer using yaw.
  • Set the throttle to 1
  • Pull up gently until you know you know you are at a good altitude before shooting up into the sky.

Weaponry Introduction
If you look to the left of you, on the far side of the cockpit, you will find your radar, cannon controls, ordnance controls, flare controls, and cannon ammo respectively.

Cannons: The Wolfshund carries six 20mm cannons, all mounted on the fuselage. In total you have six-hundred rounds of ammo. It may seem like a lot but it burns through it fast. I recommend that when engaging aircraft, you get up close and shoot out the propellers and/or engine. The reflector sight and the stable flight of the aircraft should make this easy.

Suspended Armament: Below the cannon controls, you will find the ordnance controls. Use the arrows to change the type of ordnance you are going to be using. Torpedoes are ordnance selection 1, HVAR rockets are selection 2, and drop tanks are selection 3.

Any torpedo that has the hard point ordnance type set to "Torpedo" is compatible. The preset you can download are ZE BLUPS with an extra warhead. Anyways, these are dropped one at a time. I recommend staying at a low altitude when firing torpedoes. One should be enough for a small- medium-sized boat.

The HVAR rocket rack preset carry twelve High-Velocity Ariel Rockets. These are better than bombs since you can sort of aim them. You could make your own rocket rack, just make sure your rocket rack hard point connector is set to "Rocket". It will fire a rocket from the left first, then the right, and back again. There is no way to drop the rack itself.

There are two drop tank presets to this, but there isn't much of a need for them, given the already great range. To have a truly compatible drop tank (since composite values feed into the "Combined Drop Tank Levels") , you'll need to rip out the MC in the drop tank presets.

Under the nose, you may notice ten flares. The trigger for these are below the ordnance controls, and the fire one at a time. These are meant to light up an area during the night to ease the finding of targets.

Defensive 7.92mm Turret: There is a mouse-controlled turret in the rear of the cockpit. It fires incendiary rounds, and has four-hundred rounds for reloading plus fifty already loaded. There is also a spotlight on it. Use the hotkeys 1 & 2 respectively to turn on the turret and spotlight.

The Navigator
The navigator is a core part of this aircraft's effectiveness in its intended field of combat. The navigator has access to the map, basic flight instruments, weather measuring equipment, and radar controls (although the pilot can also view the radar but can't interact with it). The navigator can help the pilot by reading altitude, speed, current orientation, and navigating while the pilot focuses on controlling the aircraft and winning skirmishes. They can also access the gunner's seat.

Survivability
Sadly, this aircraft can not survive after losing an engine, although it is manageable to bail since it is just a flat spin. Also try not to get hit in the tail or wingtips. Doing a ramming is actually safe if done right. A fuel cross feed is included, allowing both engines to run even when having one tank empty. Going full throttle for too long burns the engine.

And finally: Specifications
  • Maximum Throttle: 1
  • *Top Speed and Range at Maximum Throttle: 190 knots (it is not the fastest), ~1hr 30min flight time, ~560km range
  • Cruise Throttle: .60
