Valhalla Vanilla

Description
This map is a tweaked version of the popular map "Valhalla".

Specifically:
- Increased freeway and railroad spacing to be vanilla-friendly
- Removed hidden underground power lines
- Removed hydro dam
- Removed various structures (aesthetic only)
- Changed theme to Boreal (from European)

-------------------------------------------

The original map is beautiful, and I was really excited to play a vanilla build on it. However, even though the original map was already vanilla, there were situations that required the use of a mod or two. I decided to modify the map to be even more vanilla-friendly, and figured others might find it useful as well.

Detailed Changes:

1. Increased freeway and railroad spacing. The original freeway/railroad spacing were too close together; destroying certain freeway/railroad segments meant that you could never rebuild it unless you used a mod like "Move It". Increased all freeway/railroad spacing to be vanilla-friendly, so you can demolish and rebuild at will. This also allows you to easily upgrade the freeway from 3-lanes to 4-lanes.

2. Removed hidden underground power lines. The original map contained power-line-like structures that are hidden under the freeway. However, they frequently caused the "space already occupied" error, such as when building on/off ramps or rebuilding freeway segments. These underground structures can be demolished in-game, but that cuts off power from the hydro dam and defeats the purpose of having the power lines in the first place. Opted to remove them completely.

3. Removed the hydro dam. The hydro dam looked great, but is not actually generating any power (power comes from a separate, hidden power plant). Removed the dam so that players can opt to build their own vanilla dam. Removed the hidden power plant. Also did some slight terraforming to the waterfall so that there's a bit more flow.

4. Removed various structures. The original had a number of assets that are available in the map editor, but not during gameplay. These were assets purely for aesthetic purposes (pillars for bridges, support walls, etc.). They looked great but I opted to remove them since you need a mod like "Move It" to recreate their placement.

5. Changed theme from European to Boreal. Not a fan of European themed buildings.

6. Removed roundabout in the starting tile. Opted to let the player decide if they want to build one. (Also, I accidentally deleted it and didn't want to remake it.)

7. Lengthened outside connection railroad tracks. Lengthened the sections of tracks going out of the map, so that trains have more space when approaching the crossover section of rail, to possibly prevent traffic jams. Pretty niche issue and probably doesn't do much, but did it just in case.

That's it. Enjoy!

@Bringer of Fire So happy to know my feedback helps, and thanks again for making this great map! I'm looking forward to see the recreated version!

Thanks for letting me know that those assets are vanilla. I was only looking at assets available in-game, so must've missed the ones available in the map editor. I'll update my description to reflect that.

Also, I wasn't quite sure if it's considered bad form to post an edited version of your map on the workshop. If so, just let me know and I'll gladly take it down

Hiiii
Thanks for the feedback and tips! It’s always great to here from people who build on the maps. Also, thank you for your positive remarks towards the original.
I did realize the underground power lines created the errors after the map was made and I have since thereafter stopped using that method.

Just want to let you know that the original map is, in fact, vanilla. I know this because when I set out to make a vanilla map I have everything in the game deleted and uninstalled. (No DLCs or workshop assets installed) so anything I place in the map is in the base game.

I only go in with a few mods:

Find it
Anarchy
Precision engineering
Advanced landscape

There’s probably a couple
More I can’t think of.

The map will be recreated and updated hopefully sometime this year, just like Revelstoke was.

Thank You
