Lore:
A moderately sized, omnivorous reptile from the sub terrain swamps of the Tr'allanga home world.

Rigi'raak are semi aquatic; able to move decently well on land and swim pretty well in water.

These creatures feed primarily on small fish, worms, crabs, insects; flowers and various short plants.

When hunting fish, the Rigi'raak sits motionless at the bottom of rivers and lakes; waiting for prey to get in biting range.

Once prey gets close enough; the Rigi'raak lunges at its prey and snaps its jaws shut; often cutting its prey in half.

These animals are also prey to larger predators; so have evolved a strong shell they can hide in; sharp beaks that can cut through flesh and bone easily, and hooked claws that can cause serious wounds; but are rarely used.

Rigi'raak have a lifespan of 60-210 years and become sexually mature adults at 30 years old.

Regarding reproduction; during the spring and summer; male and female Rigi'raak will send out mating calls and try to find someone they like the voice of.

When a pair find one another and likes each others mating calls; they mate.

After mating the male and female will pair up and stay together.

2 months later the male and female will migrate to a semi-shallow river or lake; where the female will dig a nest, lay her eggs and guard them; taking guard shifts with the male so they can both eat and rest.

3 months later; the eggs will hatch and baby Rigi'raak will emerge, said babies will then climb onto their mother and fathers backs till they reach 5 years old.

After that; they become too big to stay on their parents shells.

The babies will continue to stay with the parents and follow them till their 10 years old; at which point their big enough to fed for themselves and will leave to do their own thing.

Side note:
Rigi'raak can't breath under water, they have lungs adapted to hold their breath for long periods of time.
