CRN E-1A Viking Recon Exploration Vessel

The CRN E-1A is the Republics newest recon and long range exploration ship, fully atmospheric capable the E-1A features VTOL ( Vertical Take Off and Landing ) Capabilities, with four rotating nacelles. This allows the Viking to operate in many different regimes. Furthermore the Viking has a vehicle and drone bay for improved recon and exploration abilities, the CRN "scout" drone equipped with the Viking is a small intermediate range recon drone, the Scout can fit in many different spaces given its relative size. Meanwhile the Viking can carry most small reconnaissance ground vehicles for added support. With a small FLIR camera on the bottom to better aid the Viking's tracking abilities. In addition to all of these complements the Viking can attain a substantial speed in a relatively short amount of time, making it all the more valuable to the Republic as a recon and Exploration platform.

The CRN Viking was built out of a need for long range recon and Exploration craft, the CRN called for a long range VTOL capable platform that could fly in almost any environment imaginable. First rolling off of the CRN production lines in the 2980's the Viking is a very new platform. Equipped with enough fuel for long ranges the Viking and her crews can stay away from main Republic forces for quite some time. The Vikings first widespread military use was in the Centurion Insectoid war, performing as a long range recon and early warning platform for CRN forces in systems such as Capella and Gideon. The Viking's long range enabled it to loiter around and "paint" up enemy targets for CRN strike teams. the during this war the Viking proved itself highly valuable as a long range recon platform, making it so that CRN Logistics Officers could more accurately plan operations. The Viking further aided CRN ground forces and Naval forces alike by allowing them to better see where potential counter attacks could come from.

I built the Viking as apart of a VTOL challenge, it works really well, I love the Viking and all of its neat little quirks. As with subgrids, its a little klangy but overall its pretty stable.
