CRN Ymir Class Artillery Cruiser: 

The CRN Ymir Class is the CRN's newest combat warship, built for long range fire support the Ymir is equipped with a mass accelerator in the front of the ship with an additional three Railguns for planetary fire support. The main armament for the Ymir, its mass driver is the CRN's third generation Daedalus anti capital fixed weapon. The Daedalus can maintain a rapid fire rate for some time, being able to fire and reload a round every second. The Daedalus is a highly effective weapon against static targets. Against ships the Ymir is equipped with three railguns for anti ship duties, making the Ymir a highly deadly platform. With an aft hangar for small recon craft the Ymir can be connected up with all of your other forces to provide a coordinated strike on enemy targets. Furthermore the CRN Daedalus mass accelerator system can shoot rounds out with 26-30g's of acceleration making any mass driver round extremely deadly once it hits its target.

Commissioned in 2985 the Ymir is one of the CRN's newest combat capable warships, and the third ship of its kind. Interplanetary the Ymir is capable of assaulting platforms in space or on the ground, capable of supporting ground troops or fleets alike. The Ymir's third generation Daedalus combat system is highly effective at its job. Making the Ymir one of the CRN's most advanced combat warships of its class. Built to replace the Ballista the Ymir was born out of a need for a reliable speedy and semi cheap platform. Hence why ship designers opted for a mass driver system instead of the Ballista's main gun. The CRN had been unhappy with the Ballista for some time seeing it too unreliable to be effective in combat. By the fifth intergalactic war the CRN was forced to look for alternative platforms. Completely phasing out its fleet of Ballista's to be mothballed and sold for scrap. Which was the start of the CRN's Next Generation Long Range Fire Support Ship or NGLRFS Program, which resulted in the Ymir's subsequent introduction into the fleet. Being built just in time to see combat in the Gamma Draconis, Capella, Gideon, and Arcadia systems. In the Gamma Draconis system the Ymir was able to support retreating response forces, which had been subsequently destroyed by an unknown aggressor, which the CRN now knows as the "Bugs". This engagement resulted in the destruction of a CRN flagship the CRN Ardent Moon. Out of the two rapid response taskforces that were sent only a quarter of ships managed to return to port in the Gamma Draconis system. Garrisoned Ymir's were able to repel some of these bug forces, enough to allow retreating CRN forces to make it back to port. Within the subsequent CRN engagements the Ymir supported fleets and ground forces alike. During the CRN's involvement the CRN managed to find a jump gate in the system. Supporting Ymir classes were able to provide fire support to enable CRN assault ships to capture the ring and secure it. Meanwhile on Capella-1 Ymir's supporting the ground offensive were able to repel ships attempting to land enemy forces. Enabling the CRN to gain a decisive victory over the Bugs on Capella-1.

Authors Notes:

This ship is by far one of my favorite ships, I love the whole design and everything about it. I am not exactly sure about what issues it has, because upon upload the Ymir is pretty stable, most of the Klanging issues I was able to fix, I have subgrid LCD's in both bridges but they shouldnt be too much of an issue if your flying this ship. This ship isnt super survival ready because of how many subgrids it has. Otherwise its amazing, I suggest using the main gun with some sort of speed mod as you will see better performance in combat, Otherwise its an absolutley amazing ship that I love and I hope all of you will enjoy it as much as I have. So I do love the overall style of the ship and its function. Pretty solid there.

Three comments. The little armory behind the central CIC could be moved over to a barracks. You have a ton of these little suit armory blocks throughout the ship already so a different task I think could be warranted for this big space.

Not a fan of the lower Bridge, I love the lower bridges on ships, but this one you got to drop down a shaft to get to. Not really handy to get to it.

Only entrance in the rear of the ship. Personally would like some side entrances in order to enter and exit the ship easily.

I love your builds. I would be really cool if there was a CRN faction with your builds for the MES mod. Having these as a faction would be a plus in game.

The design is really amazing, but if you don't match the right time with the mass cannon and you're moving, you just detonate yourself.
I lost one of the three part of the "cannon" and lost all of its functionality.
It's not a bug, it's just how it works if you don't stand still and you don't match the right time :)
