The Bison of the Iron Peak

Description
The U25Bs nicknamed the "Iron Bison" that run the Iron Peak Industrial's Iron Valley Subdivision

These locomotives were the first bought by the railroad prior to it's founding in 1993. Thirteen were saved from being scrapped in 1972 by a siting executive from the Bessemer and Lake Erie railroad who had plans to start his own short line as a subsidiary of the B&LE. Those plans never came to fruition as the locomotives were moved to a dead line at a Relco facility in Illinois, abandoned until 1991 where they began to be scrapped once again. Of the thirteen originally saved five were fully scrapped and the rest were bought by Theodore B. Buchanan, the founder of the IPI. In two years they successfully revived the eight locomotives and began operations hauling coal through the Appalachian hills.

They are slowly being replaced by more efficient locomotives as they are aging pieces of equipment. Of the eight, three have been retired and stored by the railroad, those three being 26, 27, and 29.

Includes locomotives 25-32

These engines have added features such as flashing beacons activated by the cab light, and ditch lights controlled by the headlights.
