Astra Militarum Basilisk

Description
An Earthshaker cannon on a Chimaera, the backbone of Imperium ranged warfare.

Standard Pattern Basilisk
[!] CRAFT EXCEEDS COMPLEXITY LIMIT [!]
A 'Lite' version is available.

The Basilisk is the standard self-propelled artillery piece of the Astra Militarum in the 41st Millennium, and is also the most common artillery piece used by the Imperial armed forces across the galaxy. The Basilisk is produced in vast numbers on all of the known Forge Worlds in the Imperium, and almost every Astra Militarum regiment maintains several in their arsenal.
-WH40K Fandom Wiki[warhammer40k.fandom.com]

The Basilisk is a relatively slow, lightly armoured, heavy hitting self-powered artillery from the Warhammer 40K universe. It averages 38kmh, 40 with the Machine God's blessing. It is, however, still powerful enough to, sluggishly, climb decently steep slopes. Its single cannon is octuply-impelled, allowing it to fire right into the distant horizon fog, though it fires slower than other cannons. The gun is not able to traverse further than about 10° horizontally, as the rear of the gun mount requires the support of the hull (aesthetically), and the fact that the immense forces of the eight impeller pistons will easily flip the tank if the gun is fired anywhere near perpendicular to the hull. The gun also has two modes of shooting: One with eight pistons, and the other with only two pistons, dubbed "Full-Power" and "Half-Power" respectively.

While a true standard pattern Basilisk only comes with the hull bolters, I felt that the linked pintle-mounted bolters are not too unusual of an addition, besides we don't have a searchlight as big as those typically found in other patterns to fill the space.

The tank is made to accomodate both singleplayer and multiplayer use.

It contains 4 seats:
  • A 'Control-All' seat for singleplayer use, crammed into the rightside tracks
Access by approaching the vehicle from the rear-right

  • A boltgunner seat on the front left
Access by approaching the vehicle from the left

  • A driver seat on the front right, opposite the boltgunner seat
Access by approaching the vehicle from the front right

  • A gunner's station, on the rear platform next to the ready rack
Access by approaching the vehicle from the rear left
In front of the gunner's station, there are 2 lights. The left light indicates if full shot power is enabled, the right light indicates if the handbrake is enabled.

Modifications
I intend this upload to be a sort of template, in the spirit of Warhammer 40K, where people can modify their model kits as they see fit, and, in this case, upload them, as long as credit for the original craft is given.
I encourage people to personalize their Basilisks; add details, systems, paint schemes, etc etc, and I'm looking forward to what this community could come up with.
Thanks for reading this far into the description! I'll see you next post.
