SBB E 3/3 Tigerli

This is my recreation of the SBB E 3/3. It features two heating modes: Coal heating and simulated electric heating. The electric heating works without infinite electric, but i recommend using it, as the battery will drain quickly.

Switzerland has no natural reserves of coal but the mountainous region offers cheap waterpower. 73.6% of the SBB network were already electrified by the outbreak of the Second World War. The price of imported coal kept rising due to the War. In an attempt to save on coal, the Swiss Federal Railways fitted two small 0-6-0 steam shunters of class E 3/3 with a pantograph. Power was taken from overhead lines and fed to heating elements. The firebox was retained for longer operation on non-electrified tracks.
