Doraemon

Description
Hey there, my name is... Doraemon!

From the highly successful anime and manga, comes Doraemon!

Doraemon is a super-sized, gizmo-ized gadget cat from the future! Doraemon is also a parenting robot, sent back in time to save 10-year-old Nobita's future. And to do this, he uses amazing inventions from his fourth dimensional secret gadget pocket. Of course, with all the wacky hijinks these gadgets cause, not even Aether is safe from the mayhem the gadgets in his pocket are sure to cause.

Moves and Specials

Doraemon's kit revolves around his gadgets, as he uses those and physical attacks to get in the fight. He is elements of a zoner and rushdown, with gadgets designed to get the job done for almost any situation.

Gimmick: Gadget Selection & Pocket

Neutral Special - Pocket & Down Special - Gadget Selection

Doraemon's Neutral Special is the Pocket, which is used together with Down Special, Gadget Selection. Using Down B, you can cycle through 5 gadgets, each of which, when selected, have a unique neutral B for each gadget, by pressing left and right during Down Special.

Air Cannon
The first gadget and default gadget to be selected is the Air Cannon, Doraemon's signature weapon. When Neutral Special is pressed while this gadget is selected, a quick blast of air will release from the Air Cannon, not doing much damage or knockback. This is primarily used for racking up quick small damage, but also giving opponents little breathing room while Doraemon rushes in for combos.

Sonic Solidifier
The second gadget in Doraemon's Down Special is the Sonic Solidifier. This gadget turns your voice into solid letters, and as such is sometimes used as a weapon in the series. Likewise, this special is also a projectile based one, with a much larger projectile than the Air Cannon's air blast. Doraemon releases a giant "Wa (ワツ)" from his mouth which travels a fair distance before falling and dissapearing. Although it doesn't travel as far as the Air Cannon's blast, it does deal more damage and has more knockback to compensate. Additionally this gadget's projectiles send at an angle that can lead for some good combos.

Cupid's Arrow
The third possible gadget that can be selected from Doraemon's Down Special is the Cupid's Arrow. Unlike in the series where this is used to make someone love someone else, this gadget stuns an opponent once the arrow hits someone; much like a "charmed" effect in some fighting games. Once hit, the opponent becomes briefly disabled from doing anything, and Doraemon can attack them, leading to combos. The arrow's length of how far it goes is solely dependent on how long special is pressed before Doraemon lets go of the arrow. In short, if you press and hold down on special for a longer amount of time, the farther the arrow will travel. Although this arrow is quite flimsy, so if it meets any hitbox, it will break.

The Legendary Blade "Denkomaru"
Unlike all of Doraemon's other gadgets that are projectile based, this one is instead a counter. In the series, this gadget looks like a toy sword, but can perfectly counter and parry any incoming sword attacks. Likewise in Rivals of Aether, this gadget acts as a counter, where Doraemon holds the sword in front of him, and if someone hits him during the period where he's glowing, he will strike back. If he is not hit during this time, he simply puts the sword back in his pocket, although it leaves him vulnerable. The hit itself is somewhat lackluster, so you shouldn't expect to make any kills from a counter like this one. However, this does have somewhat decent knockback, which can send in good angles for aerial combos.

Time Dumb
This is the fifth and final gadget in Down Special. It is once again a projectile based gadget, and is the smallest projectile that Doraemon has. In the series, this gadget is essentially a time bomb that once detonated, causes whoever hit with the blast to act erratically and stupid. However in Rivals, this gadget acts as a simple time bomb, that once detonated, leaves a big explosion that sends whoever hit by it flying. However, this gadget also will explode if it's hit by an opponent, although the blast is the most powerful after it is detonated.

Side Special: Bounce Back Cape
Doraemon's Side Special is the Bounce Back Cape, another staple weapon that Doraemon uses in battle. This Side Special is not necessarily used for damage, but instead can be thought of as Mario's Cape from the Super Smash Bros. series. This is used for reflecting projectiles and also sending opponents the other way. Unlike Mario's cape however, this pushes the opponent away from you, which can make for some kills on some recoveries.

Up Special: Hopter
Doraemon's Up Special is the Hopter/Take-Copter (depending on how you want to say it). This is a staple in the Doraemon franchise, being one of the first gadgets ever introduced. It works like it does in the series, Doraemon places a Hopter on his head, flies up, then falls back down. You can control him by moving left/right throughout the move. This move can also be used as a damaging move by sending opponents upwards.

I could possibly add a dub option, but if I were to it would probably be through the character select screen, and currently I just don't know how to implement it. But when I find a way to put it in, I will

Do you think you could make an English dub option?

Thanks for the feedback, those changes have been made

I feel like his attacks are lacking punch. His jabs are too slow despite not hitting that hard and the strongs do way too little damage and knockback considering how tiny and distant their hitboxes are. Tweaking those just a bit would make him more fun to come back to.

Other than that, appreciate getting him in here. Love the references with the specials too, especially Sonic Solidifier.
