Special conditions of detention: SCP-513 must be immersed in one cubic meter of gelatin and kept in a soundproof chamber with a controlled atmosphere. Gelatin should be checked daily for destruction and loss of integrity. After any earthquake, explosion or sound event of Class 2 or higher, an extraordinary inspection should be carried out immediately. Employees performing checks in the SCP-513 holding cell must be equipped with ear plugs and headphones with an active noise reduction system.

If the gelatin cube begins to show signs of destruction (such as tearing, splitting, liquefaction, or the appearance of mold), a team consisting of Class D employees who are surgically deaf should remove SCP-513 and place it in a spare cube. During this procedure, other employees are prohibited from entering the holding cell.

At least two security personnel should monitor any sentient beings that have been exposed to SCP-513. Under no circumstances should victims be given sedatives or allowed to lose consciousness. Those who do lose consciousness should be destroyed immediately.

Class D employees must be destroyed at the first sign of mental degradation. All other exposed objects can be destroyed at their request.

SCP-513-1 should be detained at the earliest opportunity.

Description: SCP-513 is an ordinary rusty cowbell. Due to severe corrosion, no signs or inscriptions are visible on its surface. Attempts to remove rust by chemical or mechanical means have not been successful.

SCP-513 was seized by Agent ██████ during the procedure for restoring the contents of the Mu in the Zone.. The bell tongue was tightly secured with several strips of adhesive tape. A piece of paper was found with the object (see Appendix).

Any noise made by SCP-513 immediately causes severe anxiety to all sentient beings who have heard it, regardless of their mental state before. Those exposed to the object report feeling that they are being watched by an invisible being, and their heart rate and blood pressure increase. Approximately an hour after exposure, victims begin to catch a glimpse of SCP-513-1 by opening doors, walking past mirrors, turning their heads, or performing any other actions that cause dramatic changes in visual perception. It is reported that after its discovery, SCP-513-1 turns away and leaves the field of view, after which it disappears without a trace. A witness interview revealed that SCP-513-1 is invisible to those who have not been exposed to SCP-513.

SCP-513-1 continues to appear at intervals of 14 to 227 minutes. Such "harassment" inevitably causes severe sleep deprivation in the victim, as those exposed to the object are greatly disturbed by the presence of SCP-513-1 in their homes. Victims who were able to fall asleep before SCP-513-1 appeared report being physically assaulted. After the victim wakes up, SCP-513-1 disappears as always (see experiment protocol 513). Such sleep deprivation, along with mental stress due to the behavior of SCP-513-1, invariably causes paranoia, aggression, hyper-vigilance and depression. In all cases of exposure, the victim committed suicide.

SCP-513-1's physical descriptions are mostly unreliable. The subjects are unable to carry out normal observation due to exhaustion, undermined mental health and over-vigilance. However, all surveys show that SCP-513-1 - he is a tall, thin humanoid with unnaturally large hands.
