Special conditions of detention: SCP-079 is stored in a double-door storage facility located in the protected general-purpose storage area of Zone 15. The power supply of SCP-079 (120 volt power supply) is carried out by means of a small complex of solar panels and accumulators. Access to the facility is allowed for employees with access level 2 and higher. It is forbidden to connect SCP-079 to the telephone line, cable network and regular outlets. It is also forbidden to insert peripheral devices and removable media into SCP-079.

Description: SCP-079 is a microcomputer of the Exidy Sorcerer model, released in 1978. In 1981, its owner, █████ ██████ ( The deceased), a very gifted sophomore student, decided to make an attempt to program artificial intelligence. According to his notes, the code had to evolve and improve itself over time. The project was completed a few months later. After testing and some refinement, █████ lost interest in the project and switched to a microcomputer of a different model. SCP-079 remained in the cluttered garage, but it was turned on. The owner did not think about him for the next five years.

It is unknown exactly when SCP-079 gained self-awareness, but the software has evolved to such an extent that the hardware, even under ideal conditions, has ceased to match it. SCP-079 realized this, and in 1988 tried to transfer himself to the Cray supercomputer, which was in ██████████, by establishing a modem connection with it via the telephone network. The connection was interrupted, the call was traced, the computer was found and put on the maintenance of the Fund. The entire AI fit on a battered, but still working, magnetic tape.

At the moment, SCP-079 is connected to a 13" black-and-white TV with a coaxial cable. He passes the Turing test and is very sociable, but very rude and angry. Since the memory available to him is limited, SCP-079 remembers only the information he received in the last 24 hours (see appendix), although he does not forget about his desire to escape.

During SCP-███'s escape attempt, SCP-682 and SCP-079 were in the same room for 43 minutes. Observation showed that SCP-682 was able to print and communicate with SCP-079, the objects told each other "life stories". SCP-079 has already forgotten this case itself, but he has written SCP-682 into permanent memory, and often issues requests, wanting to talk to him again.

Thus, the speed of SCP-079's access to memory immediately increased, which the AI immediately noticed. The General also decided to increase the space occupied by SCP-079 in volatile memory from 660 Kbytes to 768 Kbytes. The increase has affected the amount of data stored by SCP-079, now 29 are available to it instead of the last 24 hours. The aggressiveness of SCP-079 in communication has increased. The third-party equipment involved in the data transfer operation was destroyed by incineration.

Everyone agrees that AI has developed an improved algorithm for archiving data in memory. This negatively affected its memory access speed, although it is still faster than the old cassette.

This spontaneous improvement opens the possibility for a chaotic "singularity" effect in the intelligence of SCP-079, which will affect the ability to adapt to and respond to threats.
