Scout Log Trailer

Description
This mod that adds a selectable variation of the Loaded Log Cart from the Old-Timers DLC's "Rocky Hills" map. This trailer can be attached to any vehicle capable of towing the default Scout Trailer addon, and carries two load points.

Compatible with:
  • A-469
  • A-3151
  • A-969 (The Valley DLC)
  • Chevrolet K5 Blazer (American Wilds Expansion)
  • Ford F-150 (American Wilds Expansion)
  • Hummer H1 (American Wilds Expansion)
  • Chevrolet NAPCO 3100 (Old-Timers DLC)

This trailer should also be compatible with modded vehicles capable of equipping the Scout Trailer from the Old-Timers DLC, but this is not officially supported.

Manual Loading Instructions
To load the Scout Log Trailer, two (2) Short Logs must be positioned either ON THE TOP or ON EITHER SIDE of the trailer (see the image above). The logs can be packed from either position. It is easier to position the logs on the sides, but placing them on the top of the trailer is quite possible with some advanced crane skills (even the K-700's loader can do it).

If it tells you that "something is blocking the area", try straightening out the trailer.


WARNING!
Unlike the Rocky Hills' Loaded Log Cart, the Scout Log Trailer WILL lose its load if it is flipped or rolled! Take appropriate precautions, and be sure to drive safely and carefully while transporting logs.

Good point. I might leave it in because it struggles to actually get through mud with the medium logs (even though I also gave it a bit of a horsepower and weight boost to bring it a little closer to some of the C-class trucks), but I'll probably drop the medium logs load to only be worth 3 load points.

Wow. I've done a lot of tinkering with the B66, but I never got close to doing all that.
I might suggest that, as a matter of balance, the logs + crane might be over the top. Personally I prefer trucks without cranes, anyway.

Since I had to make a modded version of the B-66 to allow it to actually be able to carry logs (apparently there's more things to change than just adding a log-carrying attachment), I decided to throw in a few other things :steamhappy:

Oh, I see what you mean! I'll see if I can figure out something for that. That's definitely a good idea!

Edit: Both the kraz_cart (C-255/256 log carrier) and ural_cart (C-375/4320/432010 log carrier with crane) actually fit really well on the B-66's chassis. I'll do some more messing around later and let you know what I come up with.

With the B66, what I had in mind was basically a medium-logs trailer like the other trucks all use, which is basically a dolly that bares most of the load, but small-size. If you think its not possible or perhaps sensible, I can accept that. It's just something I've always wished this game had.

I can definitely make the loading zones a bit larger, sure! It should be better now. (You may need to un- and re-subscribe to get the updated version.)

Regarding the B-66, that's a good idea, but there's a problem. If I add a new Short Log Trailer for the B-66, it would essentially be a standard Short Log Trailer that could ONLY be attached to the B-66, which wouldn't make any sense in operational use. Either that, or it would need to be available to ALL vehicles compatible with the existing trailer, and would show up as a duplicate in the garage. The third option would be to make a modded B-66 that can equip C-class trailers, which wouldn't make any sense either (but probably already exists somewhere). So unfortunately, I don't plan on doing that, but good suggestion!

This mod is long overdue. Thanks for making it. I wish it included a mini fuel-trailer and mini utility trailer, just to nicely round it all out, but that's okay. Loading the logs sure is a hassle. I think it would be an improvement if you make those loading zones just a tad larger. Would you consider taking a shot at a logs dolly for the B66 to carry short logs?
