Description
Gene Kiniski played defensive line for the University of Arizona as well as the Edmonton Eskimos before training to become a pro wrestler.

Kiniski won the AWA World Heavyweight Championship from Verne Gagne in 1961 but lost the title back to Gagne a month later.

In 1966, he defeated Lou Thesz to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, then went on to hold the belt for over three years.
