Legend tells of a fearsome samurai who was brutally assassinated by Shogun Yoshimitsu after suffering a humiliating defeat in a game of Shogi at the hands of the samurai. The samurai's widow, who he nicknamed his little Sakura, traveled deep into the mountains to plead for help from the fabled Otakemaru. Starved, exhausted, and having narrowly escaped death numerous times, Sakura at last came upon the Otakemaru's palace. Caring little for her plight, but despising the shogunate, the Otakemaru offered her a deal. He would forge her a blade that would never fail to kill its opponent. The price? He would need to use half of her soul to hone the blade, and she herself would suffer a brutal death after completing her quest. Without a moment's hesitation, she accepted.

It remains wildly dipusted just how many fell victim to Sakura's wrath. She herself lost count very early on in her quest. But the best estimates are well into the thousands. No armor forged by gods or man could withstand the blade's edge. Even the lightest of swings would cleave through bone and steel like washi. Often striking at night under cover of darkness, Sakura's reputation as the personification of death itself grew to terrifying proportions. As did her blood lust. Mountains of dead and rivers of blood lay in her wake. And so did sakura petals, which burst from the blade with every swing. It wasn't difficult for the common folk to conclude the dreadful Sakura had been to their villages and towns the night before, because the only thing that exceeded the number of severed limbs littering the streets was the number of sakura petals.

The events that immediately preceded the death of Shogun Yoshimitsu remain wildly disputed. However, the end result of that fateful encounter do not. He was left in so many pieces they had to shovel his giblets off the floor. And thus ended the Blight of Sakura. How, where, and when she met her own end remains a great mystery. It was as if she simply vanished without a trace. Her blade was all that remained to prove her terrifying crusade wasn't simply a collective nightmare.

And this blade...this blade ain't that one. This is a cheap knock-off cobbled together by Billy Joe Bob from Arkansas in the back of his mum's trailer. He's got 1 lazy eye and warrants in 3 states. Well, at least he did, he didn't survive the apocalypse long, what with the lazy eye. He used glow-in-the-dark spray paint (that he'd been huffing for 4 days straight) for that sweet neon effect. He could never remember exactly how he did the flower petal thing, he was still coming down off the paint fumes when he did that bit.

But this is all good news for you. Because you can pretend. Pretend that every sakura petal that flutters from this blade is just one more soul being released from among countless victims of the actual Sakura blade. You can pretend that the Blight of Sakura has returned once more to wage one final war. A war against the dead. What? You're a man, you say? You don't want people getting the wrong idea with you running around with a pink sword, you say? Perhaps you should sit back and meditate on that for a minute. Only a man confused about his sexual identity would be self-conscious about a color. Billy Bob certainly wasn't.

What will conflict with this mod?

It should go without saying but any mod that modifies the textures or model of the katana will conflict.

I'm seeing a couple texture artifacts, can you fix them?

Not without entirely redoing the texture mapping of the model, the vanilla texture mappings are pretty poor. I plan to eventually remodel the katana itself to fit the sakura theme, which will erase this problem entirely, but it's not high on my priority list at the moment.

Why can't I see the particle effects?

Because you haven't subscribed to King's Particles yet, silly.
