//Speaker: Ship's Engineer 2nd Class Erik Clements

"Hey kid... KID! Hey, no need to be so put out. The Chief wasn't laughing at you, you just caught her by surprise is all with your talk of "lossless air locks."

"Most new engineers that get assigned to the Kurt Carlsen have done their homework. This isn't a ship you're here to improve. We just keep it running. 'Ol Carlsen here has been around for 3 decades now. He's been remodeled more times than you can count and there's not an original part left in him."

"It ain't a beautiful ship but we got a good crew and we know how to stay alive on this death trap. The senior crew's seen it all... Hell! Last time I had the pleasure to report to the Chief that pirates had sawed the ship in half with weapons fire, she just sighed and said, 'Not again... I really hate it when they do that'.

"No need to look so pale kid. We're on military logistics duty for a bit. Only pirates coming after us are the ones with death wishes."

The General Support Ship Kurt Carlsen started life as refueling hub for ships heading out to the frontiers of space. Later, it became a mobile refinery and then a construction ship. Now with profitability waning, it's heading out to the frontiers of space itself where prices are high and expectations are low. Designed to fill multiple roles, it has versatility, if not efficiency.

Notes from the builder:

This was created as a test bed for my habitat and module pods. It's my first big ship and many lessons were learned. Should be a good ship for role playing groups looking to enjoy different scenarios. Enjoy the grittiness.
The ship is fully pressurized with many airlocks. It has everything it needs to survive and thrive in space and room to grow. It is not a perfect ship and will be a challenge for any space engineers wanting to turn it into a perfect ship.

Thank you for the kind words. This ship was a way to explore mounting options and see how it would all look once put together. I had some designs where the habitat pods were facing forward and aft instead of starboard, but the reality of having to maneuver them into position with a tug would have been burdensome. Also there wouldn't have been enough space to get into the Rouster's dock area. But I digress...

The "dream" of the Kurt Carlsen and later creations would be to give role players something to play in and interact with.

I haven't envisioned any cutters, but I look forward to seeing how you bring your dream to life. drop me a link when you are done!

I love your design aesthetic on your pods and this ship. Was the ship meant to be a pod-hauler for your pods? I've been thinking of making some kind of a modular cutter and the obvious first step is to create a pod standard. Your pod form factor (and contents) seem ideal. Do you have anything like that designed?
