Description
FOR VERSION 1.2!
It's now fully made of oak and some aluminium instead of mainly foam, some oak and some aluminium and it flies pretty well albeit a little like an RC-plane.

My version of the iconic Supermarine Spitfire Mk XVI. It's one of the Mk XVI versions without the bubble canopy and cut off wings since that makes the plane less beautiful IMO. :) It has a slightly stronger engine and changed tail fin though compared to the Mk V.

It's an approximation, not a 1:1 replica.

This is a fighter/bomber version armed with 2 .50 machine guns (double machine guns) and 2 20 mm automatic cannons. The cannons do not fit in the wings so I had to put them in the nose (the ones on the wings are purely decoration), but at least you get more firepower.
It also carries 1 500 lb bomb and 2 250 lb bombs

Alt controls to fly.
W/S: Variable throttle.
S: Ground brake.
A/D: Ground steering/Yaw.
Up/Down arrow: Pitch.
Left/Right arrow: Roll.
X/Disable steering: Landing gear.
Fire action 1/Num 1: Machine guns and cannons.
Fire action 2/Num 2: 500 lb bomb.
Fire action3-4/Num 3-4: 250 lb bombs.

As always the paint schemes are tricky in this game, so feel free to edit, but if you re-upload publically in any way please acknowledge the original creation and creator.

Have fun!

engoonier working on Rosie the Rocketer now. SHould be ready tomorrow evening-ish if there are no major issues during the build. :)

It takes time because all the weight and fluid dynamics and engine and control surface balancing and trimming has to be done from scratch basically. Also it seem like they need to be heavier to not behave like butterflies on cr*ck so they'll be mostly all oak which means even harder to destroy with machinguns but again, it's seems to be necessary or the difficulties to adapt them will be even greater from my experience.

Just an FYI: It takes quite a bit of work to get my older planes to work even decently well in 1.2, and some seem more problematic than others, so combined with my life situation right now it will take time to get more ready The bombers are completely toast from my testing so far but I will see if anything can be done, and even the Stuka seems impossible to get to work. Air brakes seem to completely out of the question, using flaps with aerodynamics worked just fine in 1.1.3 with little to no tweaking but in 1.2 they just seem to make the plane flip over even without lift on them. I will try to in time work on more old planes to see if they can be made to work at least ok-ish in 1.2, but it will take a while.

Bazooka Charlie has been on my list for a while, not sure when I'll get around to it though. Not to get too specific but my mental health has taken a nosedive the last couple of weeks due to real life cr*p that keeps piling up, so right now I build a bit sporadically and mostly to test stuff, if I build at all.
But It is on my list.

Rolling is really tricky since you always go nose up when you try to roll in this version of the game (in 1.1.3 you just rolled) and you lose INSANE amounts of speed (down from 580 kph to 160 in one roll) so unless you have altitude enough to try to keep the nose down while rolling to maintain some airspeed be very careful.

I'll see if I can get my other versions of the Spitfire into shape for 1.2 tomorrow.
