verney's tiered traits

Description
Ave citizens! "Tiered-Traits" seeks to add more immersion to Imperator's character system, with care taken to provide an aesthetic that fits in well with the game's flavour and look. I have reworked a good deal of the vanilla traits in the game using a simple 3-level rationale that slots different ones into gold-tier, silver-tier, and bronze-tier categories. Each trait type (military, finesse, charisma, and zeal) have correspodnfing tiers that give buffs to different characters: namely gold tier gives finesse, military etc an additional 5 points, silver an additional 3, and bronze an additional 2. There are also legendary traits; namely giving point buffs of +5 together with significant perks to research or warfare etc. I have also done my best to highlight "undesirable" traits with a red ring; these have more or less been chosen by whether or not they deduct aforementioned buffs from characters. Diseases and ailments have a black ring around them now, with a red inner circlet to highlight the more serious illnesses that could potentially cripple/kill your characters. Hoping this mod makes your characters feel more unique, meaningful, and easy to understand. I have plans to include family traits (Seleukids, etc) but will not be reworking their script values, namely just their look; I would love to include the Invictus ones as well as I want this mod to be part of their package. Shouldn't have too many conflicts, but let me know if any pop-up.

Update No.1 / 12-11-22

1a) Fixed the "Steadfast" trait from only giving 1 point for martial to 2.
1b) Added "Spearmen" moddifier buffs to "Tactician" , "Victorious", and "Conquerer" traits. Realized they were not included earlier.
1c) "Victorious" trait now adds 15% morale buffs to various units, while adding a 25% buff to personal popularity if the character is a ruler. I took inspiration for this from historical figures like Alexander and Caeser who were reveered for their military victorious.
1d) "Conqueror" trait gives a 15% increase to aggressive expansion monthly change if the character is a ruler; again to reflect the attitudes of historical conquerors.

- a few other changes may be included but not listed. As always, feel free to send me feedback in the comments section.

Update No.2 / 03-05-23

- Legendary traits have been updated, but only if they are held by your rulers. Founders now have added buffs to national stability and tech development while conquerors now allow for faster AE decay so your cooldown times between conquests are shorter.

Update No.3/ 30-12-23

Added remaining negative traits and heath ones as well (minor penalities). Corrupt individuals now have a -1 to zeal and bigger buff to enslavement efficiency.

This mod adds a lot of interesting stuff. But I feel like "conqueror" is perhaps too strong. Having half of the aggressive expansion burn off every month kinda makes the game too easy.
don't worry be happy 24 Apr, 2023 @ 10:37am
Actuallly, there is many traits that also can be tiered like you did with previous ones. As for example "honest" or "Just" traits. I think they are very important for ruler, so they worth to be at least silver or even gold tier. What do you think?

@Sorge_ sorry for the late reply, I've been thinking of publishing a "lite" version of this mod, most definetly. Keep your eyes peeled as we get closer to the holiday season. Ive just so little time between work. @Polka, thanks alot! Always keen to hear ideas/suggestions on how to make it better.

I really like the graphical addons you made to make each of the traits stand out more. I do think however that gold traits giving an increase of 5 points may be too high. I've played around 30 years to 480 AUC as Sparta with this mod on and especially the 5 point military traits can seriously influence combat. I managed to get a 22 martial mercenary captain since he just kept winning battles and accrued a number of the traits like victorious, conqueror, etc.
My suggestion is to cap out the high tier traits at 3 instead of 5, and have the traits go 1-2-3 bronze-silver-gold. Ultimately up to you though.
