Mechtrauma ALPHA

Description
INTRODUCTION
Mechtrauma is an overhaul of the mechanical experience for Barotrauma. Keeping a submarine operational now requires a competent and engaged engineering team. No Longer a tedious marathon of clicking repair on anything that breaks for the engineering team. Instead, critical machines require and consume individual parts. These parts are, in turn, fabricated out of smaller components.
Example: a water pump requires an electric motor to run. An electric motor wears out over time and is made from steel, bearings, and copper windings.


Balance and implementation decisions are made by the sub designer as they can choose to use any combination of Mechtrauma and Vanilla machines. Consequently, Mechtrauma requires a submarine designed to use the Mechtrauma mod. I have also released the Hadrada as an example submarine.



Highlights Include:

Diesel Generators - Large, small, and portable. The Mechtrauma require diesel fuel and hull oxygen to be over 50% in order to function. If the generator is submerged or the hull has no oxygen, some generators are equipped with oxygen tank hookups so that they can be run in adverse conditions. Friction is the enemy of all combustion engines, make sure to change the oil regularly and keep a clean filter in it.


Steam Powertrain - a powerful but maintenance intensive alternative to vanilla electric engines.


Oxygen Supply - A rebalanced oxygen generator with penalties for allowing it to go offline.

The Oxygen supply fills the hulls with oxygen and the oxygen tank refill stations use compressors to remove oxygen from the hull and compress it into tanks. Additionally, there are
Oxygen Stations will quickly fill an oxygen bottle from a larger tank. The oxygen stations will also release oxygen into the hull in the event that oxygen levels drop too low.

Oxygen Vents
Oxygen vents require a Co2 filter or crew in the area will begin to experience symptoms of carbon dioxide poisoning. Mold and fungus can grow in these vents as well. It is important to keep them clean and if you find any fungus, make sure to analyze it and make an antibacterial shot for anyone that was infected.


Pumps - Mechtrauma pumps require electric motors that need to be replaced periodically.

Pump Gates - external submarine valve that is required for pumping water in/out of the sub.

Incinerator - for disposing of unwanted items mid round. (I'm looking at you, duffel bags and ID cards.)


Refill Stations - There are stations for quickly refilling oxygen, welding, and extinguisher tanks.


New Containers - Shipping containers and closets for storing bulky items that end up cluttering the floor.


New Gear - New Uniforms, radiation suits, turnout gear, alternative combat diving suit, low pressure diving suit, etc.

Suits with headlamps now require batteries for the light to function. Suits are no longer fireproof and you shouldn't fight fires with explosive materials in your inventory. If you're going to fight a fire, make sure to use a fire resistant oxygen tank. Also, some suits have storage for additional items such as a large fire extinguisher or an extra air bottle for expeditions.

Specialized Fabricators - while not required, these specialized fabricators can make life a lot easier.


Battery Banks - Large batteries with vast storage capacity; however, they are disabled when underwater.


New Electrical Panels - Mechtrauma panels accept sacrificial fuses that give significant protection for over voltage and deterioration damage. However, the fuses wear out and need to be replaced regularly. An Electrical Panel will operate without a fuse but runs the risk of starting a fire and a Fuse Panel will simply shut off without a fuse.


Tools - An alternative to the vanilla welder is included. It requires a battery to function and uses an inert welding gas. However, it also adds the risk of fire when welding. Make sure to keep an S5 Extinguisher handy!


Scrap Metals
Sometimes, it just doesn't make sense to give an entire aluminum, steel, copper, etc when deconstructing an item but you know there is some valuable material in there! Introducing scraps. Smaller items can give scrap material that can then be fabricated into regular materials.



COMPATIBILITY
Mechtrauma is designed to be highly compatible with other mods by focusing on adding new items and using as few overrides as possible. However, it has specifically designed to be compatible with:
  • Neurotrauma
  • Hazardous Reactors

LUA FOR BAROTRAUMA
Lua for Barotrauma is needed for some items to work; however, most the mod works without Lua. Here are the main items that use Lua:
Ballast Pump Gates - Uses Lua to dynamically scale the pumps output based on the gate condition.
Average Component - Uses Lua to do math
Oxygen Vent - Uses Lua to spawn fungus randomly

Converted /Added mechtrauma to my current sub, im running 3 engines, 2 Main MAN DIesel and then mechtrauma's diesel generator and powertrain as backup. functions ok i guess.. but the degredation of filters are super fast, hope you can fix em.

I'm getting this error. Does anyone know how to solve it?

Potential error in StatusEffect (Spore Infection). Target not defined, the effect might not work correctly. Use target="This" if you want the effect to target the entity it's defined in. Setting "This" as the target.

Hello, the mod is very extensive and interesting in description, I’m thinking of trying it on a large assembly of the mod and here are a few questions:
1 what is the difference between alpha and unstable (well, besides the obvious fact that unstable... unstable) and how often alpha is updated
2 this is compatibility.. yes it is said that it should be compatible with many, but here is a list that I have doubts about:robotrauma,Enhanced Reactors,a derivative of 2 dangerous reactor mods, these are Hazardously Enhanced Reactors,and the most important (for me) is immersive repairs,also NT cybernetic
3 is it possible to add items from the mod, roughly speaking, to the ability to buy an upgrade for a boat that has only vanilla assets,that is,replace standard shields with your own, or add diesel or steam generators in a new location?
4 the final question, this is an addition to question 2,will you make patches yourself for compatibility with mods or will you outsource it to the community?
