Special conditions of detention: SCP-017 should be kept in an acrylic glass cage with dimensions of 100 x 50 x 50 cm, suspended in the center of the room with a size of 6 x 6 x 4 m; the walls of the room should be made of concrete. High-intensity arc lamp spotlights attached to the walls, floor and ceiling of the room are directed at the acrylic cage, providing constant illumination of SCP-017 from all sides. Responsible employees are required to monitor the functioning of the searchlights, the emergency generator system in the SCP-017 holding cell, as well as to carry out their maintenance.

Access for employees to the SCP-017 holding cell is allowed only if it is necessary to replace the lamps in the floodlights. At the same time, the personnel entering the room must be dressed in reflective suits, it is forbidden to be in front of a working spotlight.

Description: SCP-017 is a human figure approximately 80 cm tall, anatomically similar to that of a small child, but without noticeable distinguishing features. SCP-017 consists of a vague smoky shroud. No attempt to detect any object under the veil has been successful, which, however, does not exclude the possibility of finding something there.

SCP-017 reacts to any shadow appearing in the room at a very high speed, stretching over the object casting it, absorbing it and then returning to its normal size again, leaving no trace of the absorbed object.
