Description
FOR VERSION 1.2!

This is my take on the Piper L-4H Grasshopper reconnaissance aircraft.
This particular version is "Rosie the Rocketer" piloted by Lt. Col. Charles "Bazooka Charlie" Carpenter. Inspired by other L-4 pilots he strapped 6 bazookas to his plane and managed to destroy or disable several armoured vehicles and was officially credited with 6 destroyed tanks during the autumn of 1944.

It's an approximation, not a 1:1 replica. (I know some proportions are a bit messed up.)

The Grasshopper was produced in large numbers during WW2 and used for among other things reconnaissance, artillery spotting, liaison, medical transport and ground control.
The L-4 Grasshopper was mechanically identical to the J-3 civilian Cub, but was distinguishable by the use of a Plexiglas greenhouse skylight and rear windows for improved visibility,

Alt controls to fly.
W/S: Variable throttle.
S: Ground brakes.
A/D: Ground steering/Yaw.
Up/Down arrow: Pitch.
Left/Right arrow: Roll.
Fire action 1-6/Num 1-6: "Bazookas". *

* Since it's impossible to strap the in-game RPG to the plane and since it's as impossible to build tiny bazookas these rockets will have to do. Since they are so short they seem to be even more prone to inaccurate behaviour than missiles usually do but it's what I can accomplish considering size and weight are issues.

A note on the handling: The super realisctic "dynamic" fluid dynamics system in 1.2 for some reason robs the plane of a lot of lift between 80 and 130 kph. It just suddenly dips the nose down for no discernable reason, but I'm guessing there's some threshold in the system it reaches and the numbers are just not balanced. Since the real top speed of the plane is about 140 kph a lot of the flying happens around those speeds so to make it a bit less annoying I made the top speed is a bit higher at 175 kph to help avoid that annoying intervall at least a little.

Have fun!

ok?

TheGaudyTurnip what FPS do you get when trying to fly the La-5? I have just learned that the physics in the game is severly reliant on FPS to work consistently, and things behave very differently at different FPS. I build and test at 144FPS so it might be an issue if you get lower than tah sadly. My submarine doesn't work even close to properly at 50 FPS (having spawned in several large ships to sink), but if I remove the other ships it acts normally again.
So sadly the weird behaviour of the La-5 might have to do with an FPS difference between my testing environment and your game. There's nothing I can do about it I'm afraid, weäll just have to hope Fluppi rewrites the physics from scratch and gets it right, but I sincerely doubt that will ever happen. :(

ok!!!! Be sure to let me know what you PLANE to build next! XD

Taking an extended break from building in Brick Rigs I'm afraid. The state of the fluid dynamics and how weight affects planes in the game make my planes behave like poop so not quite feeling it at the moment. Sorry.

it's ok

It is a bit nose heavy but should still fly ok.

to add on to that, the cannons in the nose are heavy, so maybe that's why

i think it's just the computer, but thanks for checking!
