Music for the End of the World [True Music]

Description
Note: The current version's loot spawning system is a little buggy and isn't always functional. We are currently working on a huge update, Music for the End of the World 2.0, which will hopefully fix these issues. Hang in there!

Note 2: This mod is about 4 gigabytes. If that's too much for you, consider a smaller pack. It's a lot of music files, it's going to take up space on your computer and there is no smaller I can make it.

Music for the End of the World seeks to be the ultimate lore-friendly True Music pack for those who just can't get enough tunes in their Apocalypse.
This monolithic True Music mod is the result of dozens and dozens of hours of work and tons of helpful requests from the Project Zomboid community. It's based on Tsar's True Music framework, and was originally titled "Rose Music", and produced for the enjoyment of the Ravenrose RP community. However, the mod far outgrew its original scope, leading to a public release.

This True Music mod adds 1,000 tracks, listed here.[pastebin.com]
This mod's features include:
- 725 completely lore-friendly tracks from the year 1993 or before.
- 250 more tracks in the 'Extended' expansion which are mostly from between the years of 1994 and 2000, but with a few between 2001 and 2004.
- 25...? tracks in the Silent Hill expansion, which adds a collection of songs from across the series... and some extremely rare extras from another 2008 horror game that drop from zombies (though this can be toggled).

- Vinyl covers for every single track from the Main and Extended branches.
- Three different kinds of rare 'loot boxes' to find that contain either 50, 25, or 10 of their respective music item.
- A completely unique loot distribution system designed to account for the vast amount of items added by this mod.

- Total customization. You can customize:
-- Whether or not Cassettes or Vinyls spawn
-- How many, and how frequently, they spawn
-- Whether cassettes can drop from zombies, and how frequently they do
-- The weight of all cassettes, vinyls, and the Boombox
-- The rate at which Boomboxes consume batteries
-- Whether or not 'loot boxes' can spawn, how many items they give, and how often they spawn

All of the mods in this pack are optional except for Music for the End of the World: Core or MusicfortheEndOP which is required for any of the packs to function. It contains no music itself, only code handling loot distribution, sandbox settings and the 'loot boxes'.

Credits
Lea, myself, did most of the creative legwork behind the mod, as well as all of the grunt work collecting, converting, and implementing songs, writing some portions of code, and generally 'designing' the mod. If you have questions or need to get in contact about the mod, I am the one to contact.
Albion wrote a great majority of the unique code that gives MFTEOTW its many powerful features, particularly the loot distribution system and item boxes. Check out her workshop page here.
Alphadin, my friend who wrote a bunch of regex for me that made updates much less time-consuming at the scale we're working at.
Corvo, the person who got me into making this mod in the first place and who gave me a tremendous RP experience on Ravenrose RP.
Tsar himself, for making True Music so easy to use and work with.

My understanding is that True Music is currently broken in B42, mostly due to updates to the file structure. Much speculation abounds about Tsar and how the situation in Ukraine may have impacted or halted his development, but whatever the case, it seems unlikely that he'll return any time soon.

Consequently, all we can really do is recommend people pick up unofficial re-uploads of the mod. I don't normally support that kind of thing, but obviously these are extenuating circumstances. MFTEOTW will not contain this and will need such a reupload to work.

Is this mod going to be able to function independently? It seems True Music b42 is broken currently

A little sneak peek: One facet of our time spent has been circling back to touch up old features we had new ideas for. It's a small facet, but has yielded big results!

They're still in testing, but our new traits look like this:
MUSIC ENTHUSIAST (-1)
- 20% chance to find an extra cassette in any relevant container
- 1% chance (on top of normal rates) to find a cache
- Spawn with 10 random cassettes

MUSIC COLLECTOR (-2) (mutually exclusive with above)
- 33% chance for bonus cassette
- 2% chance to find a cache
- Spawn with 15 random cassettes, a blank cassette, and a wearable boombox
- Gain +10 items upon opening any cache!

MUSIC SCAVENGER (-2) (not mutually exclusive)
- 8% chance to find a cassette on any zombie even if Zed Drops is off
- Small increase to finding easter egg items
- +10 items and 1 blank cassette upon opening any cache!
- Spawn with a cassette bag!

@Gab Yeah, I've kinda' learned that lesson in this process! :P That's why I didn't give one!

I completely agree with you on all fronts. It was just a mistake, and not because I feel especially guilty for not making those deadlines--as you said, this is contractless volunteer work for which only one person has tipped me (and unfortunately that tip is only a fraction of what I spent on this mod!)

All that said, the news is all good behind the scenes. :) No ETA, but you should know that I'm very happy with the pace of work right now and I'm honestly just as excited as everyone else to actually get to play with it!

Not really my business but if I may make a suggestion when it comes to ETAs: just don't give them. No point to it. You're not on a contract and you're not legally liable for missing deadlines. You can give updates as to what you've completed periodically, but the only ETA you should be giving is "it's done when it's done". Anything more specific than that shouldn't exceed "ETA in year 20xx". Seen this happen too many times when folks are too optimistic about what is essentially contractless volunteer work.

Congrats! And I totally get that, so no worries! Best of luck to ya!
batsonline.ttv  [author] 7 Jul @ 11:13pm
Giving ETAs has been pretty much nothing but a mistake, but I'll say this: I finished another major round of work today and I hope to be testing everything tomorrow. Release is close at hand, I just can't be much more specific than that.
WrongTypeOfHero 7 Jul @ 6:32pm
Any ETA or ideas on how much longer we've got until full release?
batsonline.ttv  [author] 4 Jul @ 3:38am
Nothing but good news: Musical zombies is fixed and functional , and also, you guys are gonna' LOVE the Encore expansion and the huge update more than DOUBLING the Home Labelled branch, stuffing both with some absolute bangers and classics that I missed out on. I mean some REAL great shit.

If you care me <3 you'll download Home Labelled when the time comes, there's so much good shit getting dumped into it. From 90 songs to 225! On top of the now 355 songs in the new Encore expansion... you may want a little disc space!

Gonna' be hard at work tomorrow!
