Special conditions of detention: SCP-457 must be kept in a chamber with dimensions of 5 m x 5 m and an explosion-proof observation window with additional protection. A layer of fire-resistant material (asbestos cement or perlite) with a thickness of 22.9 cm (9 inches) should be applied to all surfaces inside. The passage to the chamber must consist of at least two airtight rooms with controlled temperature, which can be sealed in case of an emergency. High humidity should be maintained in the SCP-457 chamber, a drainage system should be installed in the floor, thinly sprayed water sprinklers and emergency hoses capable of creating a water pressure of at least 2.1 MPa should be constantly working. SCP-457 is allowed to be on a special ledge on the wall of the chamber, which the water does not reach, but it provides the object with only minimal protection and opportunities to preserve its shape.

All employees entering the detention room must be dressed in full flame-retardant thermostatic suits of class A. Only groups of three people are allowed to enter the SCP-457 chamber, two must be equipped with high-strength armor shields and emergency fire extinguishers. It is allowed to enter the detention room only for the purpose of providing the object with a daily allowance of combustible materials, as well as inspection and repair of damage to the camera or sprinklers.

If SCP-457 attempts to attack employees, it is necessary to use fire extinguishers and hoses until the object retreats to its cell.

In case of violations of the conditions of detention, additional sprinklers should be activated, and personnel should be equipped with armored shields and fire extinguishers.

Description: SCP-457 is a sentient being composed of flames. The exact shape of the object is unknown, it could not be seen or detected by any means, but an object is formed from fire, which creates itself. If the object has enough fuel, it takes the form of a person. The simplest form is a flame the size of a match light. In this form, SCP-457 has limited functionality and is indistinguishable from ordinary fire, except for the ability to "flare up", burning people, and independently "jump" on combustible materials or fire sources, absorbing them.

As SCP-457 grows, it can take on more complex forms, and when the size of the object increases and it gets access to a large amount of fuel, its intelligence level increases. SCP-457's way of thinking is unknown, but when it reaches a large enough size, it always assumes a humanoid form surrounded by flames. SCP-457 is able to communicate by creating letters from fire and burning them on walls or other surfaces. Sometimes he speaks using superheated air and crackling flames. When a certain size is reached, the object is divided into two creatures, each of which, in turn, is capable of division. However, instances of SCP-457 are aggressive towards each other and always try to absorb or extinguish the copy, especially if they have a small amount of fuel available to them.

The behavior of SCP-457 is very predictable, since its goals are only to find large stocks of combustible materials and spread. The danger lies in increasing the level of intelligence of the object as it grows and its ability to learn and imitate the behavior of people. This leads to the fact that SCP-457 intentionally damages and disables sprinklers, in rare cases - prepares complex traps. There were cases when the object tried to deceive or convince the staff to release it or give it more combustible materials. Due to the unique structure of SCP-457, its changing level of intelligence and unwillingness to make contact, it is impossible to draw any exact analogy between its way of thinking and human.

SCP-457 was captured in the summer of 2007 in ██████, █████, after a lot of forest fires, the cause of which was the object. How and where SCP-457 originally originated is unknown. An investigation is underway into the involvement of the facility in other major fires.

SCP-457: They are burning. [[457 moves even closer to the window and seems to start studying him and Dr. ]]
