Special conditions of detention: The object should be kept inside a sealed container made of heat-resistant alloy with dimensions of at least 2m x 2m x 2m

It is strictly forbidden to expose SCP-009 to temperatures above 0°C except during research. It is not allowed to be within a radius of 30 meters from the holding chamber of the object of aqueous solutions. The facility's holding chamber must be equipped with temperature sensors, the readings of which should be constantly monitored, as well as at least three (3) backup refrigeration units. Any breakdown of sensors or refrigeration units must be reported immediately and repaired. If the temperature in the holding chamber rises above -5°C, the chamber must be locked and filled with refrigerant until the temperature returns to a safe level (from -30°C to -25°C)

A full vacuum must be maintained in the holding chamber during the test, and the use of insulating environmental protection suits is mandatory for any contact with the object. When leaving the holding cell, all equipment, personnel and other items that were in the holding cell are completely drained and quarantined for at least 12 hours. If a liquid exhibiting the properties of SCP-009 is detected, the object must be quarantined immediately and brought to the containment area as soon as possible. Living organisms infected with SCP-009 should be immediately destroyed by chemical drying, and the SCP-009 molecules extracted during this process should be transported to the holding chamber

Description: SCP-009 is approximately ███ liters of liquid similar in appearance to distilled water (H2O), but bright red in color. The red color is clearly visible in all aggregate states, which serves as the most effective method of identifying the infected substance before its abnormal properties manifest. Unlike ordinary water, SCP-009 becomes liquid at temperatures from -100°C to 0°C, and becomes solid at temperatures above 0°C. At temperatures below -100°C, the object passes into a gaseous state similar to steam.

Studies of the atomic structure of the object SCP-009 give contradictory results. According to research, the substance consists of the same combination of hydrogen and oxygen as ordinary water, with the exception of [DELETED] in violation of the generally accepted laws of enthalpy. Doctor ██████, an expert of the Zone ██ on extrasensory physics, suggests that the object was generated or modified by an alternate reality where the laws of physics are different from ours.

The most dangerous property of SCP-009 is the ability to infect liquids containing water. When SCP-009 comes into contact with any aqueous solution, an unknown mechanism is triggered that transmits abnormal properties to other objects and creatures. Testing has shown that the effect extends to ice, steam, tea, fruit juice, seawater, blood and [DATA DELETED]. The time required for conversion varies depending on the temperature and the exact chemical composition of the affected substance; observations have shown that the process takes from 3 minutes to ██ hours.

Experiments on Class D employees have shown that the process of object transformation can be divided into several stages:

1. Primary contact: The subject comes into contact with SCP-009, which gives all the water on the affected surface (usually the skin) its properties. At this stage, subjects do not feel any unusual symptoms other than a slight sensation of warmth at the point of contact.

2. Surface transformation: Frost begins to form on the affected surface, as the heat released by the subject and SCP-009 heats the anomaly above 0°C. This stage takes from 1 minute to █ hours, during which time the subject feels [REMOVED] crystals from under the epidermis.

3. Deep tissue transformation: Exponential temperature rise of SCP-009 causes an uncontrolled reaction in the subject's body, which leads to [DELETED]. The actual blood loss is minimal due to the fact that the ice crystals [REMOVED]. The subject can remain alive and conscious for up to ██ hours.

Experiments on Class D personnel have been discontinued since April 23, 20██.

Appendix: Circumstances of discovery: The object was found in ████, Alaska, November 05, 19██. The Organization's attention was attracted by the stories of members of the local tribe, who found the mangled bodies of seal hunters. Apparently, the hunters were shipwrecked ██ kilometers from the settlement.

All the victims were shackled in red ice. The autopsy showed that the cause of death was internal bleeding, although a more detailed examination revealed [REMOVED]. It is assumed that the low ambient temperature slowed down the process of ice solidification. This delayed the complete transformation by ██ hours, which allowed the victims to remain conscious until [DATA DELETED].

The origin of SCP-009 is currently unknown. The investigation of similar events or materials from the detection zone continues. Evidence from the scene suggests [DELETED], possible exposure to SCP-███.

After the first report and sample capture, it was confirmed that the spider found by MOG-B7 (see attached file) is a previously unknown instance of SCP-3023. Studies have shown that the object appeared during [DELETED] as a result of [DATA DELETED].

Since this point raises questions, it is worth noting that the part of the coastline where the first victims were found is a barren rock and is located about █ meters from the coast. The conditions at the detection site are quite dry and cold, which prevented further contamination of the environment. If the infected were closer to the water, it could almost certainly lead to mass extinction.

The upgrade of SCP-009 to the Keter class is under consideration.

Experiments with cooling SCP-009 to ultra-low temperatures are prohibited until further notice. Personnel are advised to use liquid nitrogen only in a controlled volume and only until the temperature reaches an acceptable level.

Note: The possible use of SCP-009 in the study of cold nuclear fusion is under consideration.

Memorandum from the O5 Council: January 09, 20██
We decided to leave this thing with Euclid. We understand the reason for the concern, but as long as there is electricity and no one enters the holding cell, the facility will not create problems. After all, that's why we store it in the Zone ██.

As for cold fusion research, let's put this question aside for now. To be honest, we can't afford a second fiasco like Zone ██. The rescue team still can't find the [DELETED] doctor █████.
