TopHat's Brazil (Mem de Sá)

Adds Brazil, led by Mem de Sá, to the game as a custom civilization. The third Governor General of the colony of Brazil, Mem de Sá supported Jesuit evangelization in Brazil and repulsed French efforts to settle the region. Mem de Sá’s tenure also saw the foundation of Rio de Janeiro, which was established in 1565 by Mem’s nephew Estacio. Requires Brave New World.

UNIQUE ABILITY: THE SUGAR AGE

Gain a boost of Food when improving a Luxury Resource, increasing for each type of Luxury Resource worked by the nearest city. Gold generation contributes to border expansion.

UNIQUE UNIT: BANDEIRANTE

Standalone unit. (If Enlightenment Era is active, replaces the Explorer.) Ignores terrain cost. Once per level, may Conduct a Bandeira on an unowned Luxury Resource, claiming its tile and spawning a Worker.

UNIQUE IMPROVEMENT: BRAZILWOOD CAMP

Unlocked at Machinery. Can only be built on Jungle. +2 Gold, as well as +2 Culture after Acoustics. Claims adjacent neutral tiles.

This mod also updates Pedro II’s Brazil, replacing their Unique Improvement with the following Unique Building:

UNIQUE BUILDING: IMPERIAL ACADEMY

Replaces the University. Has a slot for a Great Work of Art, which provides +1 Local Happiness while filled. Provides a burst of Production towards any new Buildings the Capital completes.
