Baldwin-Westinghouse Steeple Cab Locomotives

Description
Baldwin-Westinghouse Steeple Cab Locomotives

In 1895, Baldwin Locomotive Works, and Westinghouse Electric, began work on developing AC electrification for railroads, and produced their first boxcab locomotive. Over time, the two companies would together manufacture electric locomotives for various railroads of various designs; one of which being the steeple cab.

The steeple cab as a design was born from the desire of having a versatile electric locomotive for smaller railroads. The sloping front hood allowed for various mechanical equipment to be placed safely within the locomotive body, while also allowing for minimal impairments to the engineer's forward field of view. It was a design produced by several manufacturers, and Baldwin-Westinghouse's versions became more distinctive as the years went by. The first steeple cab produced by their joint venture was built in 1899, but by the mid 1910s the design became more standardized yet distinctive. One notable feature of these locomotives was their ability to connect and operate as multiple units.

This mod includes two Baldwin-Westinghouse steeple cab models, roughly based upon specifications from a 1925 book about the locomotives. Both locomotives have a generic livery with safety stripes near the front, and can be recolored. The labels on the side show the company name, as well as the locomotive name, for more dynamic numbering.

The two different models are as follows:
  • Road Service Model - Maximum speed of 35mph, with over 800 horsepower, equipped with a pantograph
  • Switching Service Model - Maximum speed of 25mph, with over 600 horsepower, equipped with trolley poles

Please note, that modelcitizen's KnucklePro couplers are required to use this mod.

Also, thanks to the following:
  • themeatballhero, for their fantastic E8 locomotive, the resources to skin it, and helping troubleshoot along the way.
  • The Transport Fever North America Discord server, who were more than willing to provide resources, assistance, and generally answer questions whenever something didn't make sense or went wrong. This wouldn't be possible without them.
  • The Transport Fever 2 Wiki, all the information on there is incredibly valuable and it would have been impossible to do anything without those resources.
  • You, the people viewing this and downloading this mod! I was blown away with the positive response from my previous reskins and other work, it all really encouraged me to continue.

Also, this is my first mod that I fully made from the ground up! I hope everyone enjoys, and if you find any errors or issues, feel free to let me know!

Nice work! I would change, if possible, the text on the side of the locomotive to be the name of the train and not the name of the company. Or make an option without the name on the side
