Description

Description
This mod allows to control the height of buildings that grow in a district. The usage is very simple - there are minimum and maximum dropboxes (see the pictures) that set the height in meters. The default "0" for min and "--" for max is virtually vanilla behaviour - no limits at all.
The params will apply for upgraded buildings and new ones. If there is no building that would fit into the specified range:
a) in case of new buildings - it will not grow; the game will try to put maybe a different size building,
b) in case of upgrades - the current building will be set to Historical and the building will level up.

Background
When you play the game and manage your city well, eventually all buildings reach their maximum level. In case of high density buildings, it means that all of them will eventually end-up as highrise-type buildings and the entire city will look like a hedgehog. This even gets worse with specializations, as there is only one level usually.
I always try to build a sort of city center / downtown with some skyscrapers and then the further from the city, the buildings gets smaller, eventually ending up with low-density zones as suburbia.
This is possible with some tedious manual work in the vanilla game - setting a building as historical when it reaches a desired height. There are also some mods that would help - namely Building Themes - but it needs a lot of manual configuration. ABLC is also helpful.
Hence the idea of the mod. It basically does all the manual stuff for me. I can setup whatever districts I want and then set the height limits within them... and that's it :) The rest is automtic.

Compatibility
Realistic Population Revisited - compatible
Advanced Building Level Control - compatible when level Randomization is OFF
Ploppable RICO - should be compatible
Building Themes - sorry, not compatible, rewrites the same same core methods

Important information
The button Apply is for future use.
This is v0.7 still in the testing and development phase.
I'd like to gather some initial comments about the mod idea and its usability.
Some ideas I am currently considering.
- Apply the settings to all buildings at once (i.e. change the buildings to fit the desired height).
- Different method of setting min and max - using sort of styles / named settings approach.
- Some params to better tweak the filtration process (e.g. what to do if there is no suitable building or if there is only 1, etc.)
- Different behaviour for new vs. upgraded buildings.

Is this mod working with the last update?

@2Dimm The base game doesn't show this info anywhere. Get FindIt2 mod. When you select a building to place then there is height in its description. Also, when you use Realistic Population then the height is used to calculate floors, but I don't think it is shown directly.

Could be a nice mod for zoned buildings.

Sorry, I prefer RICO buildings or I control building height with Procedural Objects mod.

@infixo - maybe it would be good to see if it would not be wise to integrate such in ABLC or at least find a way to work there together. Feel free to contact us on discord.

awesome idea, avoids having to Plop everything or go OCD with building themes and still have a coherent repartition of buildings in your city.
I would highly suggest putting a picture for the workshop, makes it a lot more appealling in the workshop.
I gave a steam reward thing to help you get recognition. keep it up.
