SCP-1730 - What happened to Zone-13?

Special conditions of detention: A circular perimeter is established within a radius of 2 km from SCP-1730, a quarantine zone is established within a radius of 1 km. Before entering SCP-1730, employees must be pre-trained to deal with Class VII threats, including being equipped with a modified reinforced sealed suit for working with hazardous materials "Maxwell-Harden". The application of these protective measures is carried out at the main gate of the quarantine area of Time Zone 23.

Persons leaving the quarantine area are previously subject to protocols of thorough disinfection under the supervision of quarantine staff. Persons who do not meet the parameters of release from quarantine are subject to further disinfection or, if the latter is not possible, elimination.


OUS Update ██.██.████: Biologically and cognitively dangerous entities have led to significant losses among rescue teams. The Zeta-9 mobile task force ("Mole Rats") is engaged in further expeditions to the territory of the facility.


OUS Update ██.██.████: Due to the events described in Survey Protocol 7, all further expeditions to SCP-1730 are suspended indefinitely pending approval by the Caretakers.


Update of the OUS 01.02.2016: Due to the information received by the Fund's observation teams, operations for exploration and obtaining materials from Zone 13 have been resumed. Details will be available based on business need. To the chiefs of the appointed COULD: bring the groups into readiness.


OSS Update 15.05.2017: Apollo-3 ("Jaegers") and Tau-5 ("Samsara") MOG are involved, they are sent to investigate SCP-1730. See Appendix 1730.8 for details.


Update of the OUS 22.06.2017: In connection with the events described in Appendix 1730.9, SCP-1730 has been reclassified as NEUTRALIZED. Additional research is underway. The materials on the interrogations will become available as they are declassified.


Description: SCP-1730 is a large complex of structures discovered on June 5, ████ 15 km northwest of the U.S.-Mexico border in Big Bend Ranch National Park. Due to the isolated nature of the complex and the low survival rate of those who come into contact with it, it is possible that SCP-1730 was detected earlier, but it was not possible to report it.

Identification markings on SCP-1730 and documents found inside indicate that SCP-1730 was once a Foundation Area 13, originally located in Nome, Alaska. This contradicts the existing records, which state that Zone 13 was indeed planned to be built in Nome, but the project was revised in favor of a larger and better equipped Zone 19 and was not completed. The flora found on the site is characteristic of Alaska. How SCP-1730 ended up at its current location is unknown.

SCP-1730 is in a very unsatisfactory condition, and appears to have been in this state for a long period of time. The Zone's electric generator continues to operate despite its damage, a number of fuel leaks and fires throughout the facility. This leads to power outages throughout the Zone, which hinders reconnaissance and rescue operations.

The origin of SCP-1730 is unknown, as is the nature of many of the anomalous entities within it. It is confirmed that the basement levels from 2nd to 15th 2 were used to contain entities, although the condition of the holding cells has deteriorated significantly.

It is assumed that somewhere in the lower basement levels of the institution there may be surviving employees. Messages in English were found throughout the Zone, consisting of warnings such as "danger", "death is here" and other messages such as "not my body" and "blood". A recurring message "What happened to Zone 13?" was found in several different locations in the basement.

Several logs were found in the functioning terminals of the Zone, see appendices. It is worth noting inconsistencies between the journals and the research data, including in relation to the Zone plan, the appearance of the staff and the anomalies contained.

Appendix 1730.6: Received audio broadcast

The next audio broadcast was received by the monitoring equipment on the morning of February 1, 2016. The broadcast (both speech and the encrypted signal after it) has been repeated in a continuous cycle since it was first detected. The content of the broadcast is given below.

Appendix 1730.7: Update of the Research Memorandum

In light of the latest information gathered by the Foundation's surveillance teams, it was deemed appropriate to send the expedition to Zone 13 again. By order of the Board of Supervisors, the procedures for the maintenance of SCP-1730 have been updated. At the moment, the possibility of using the Tau-5 Mobile Task Force (Samsara) is being considered. Expect details.
