The middle site was St. Nigula Big Church, it was destroyed by the Red Mamori Soldiers in the 1970s to build a political tower. The tower was destroyed four years later, and the middle position was used as a flower bed.

In 1990s, a ugly glass pyramid was built, we call it, the ugliest building in Harbin.
