The LVF also known as the Légion des Volontaires français contre le Bolchevisme or the "Infanterie Regiment 638" is a foreign unit of the Wehrmacht composed entierly of frenchs collaborationist volunteers ( there were some exceptions, a very few of them where germans in order to frame the unit), they fought against the soviets in the Eastern front in many battles, after 1944 the LVF was disbanded and re formed into a Waffen-SS unit, the Waffen SS Charlemagne.
