Lights and Shadow Pack

Description
This pack includes a number of fully scaleable gradients and semi-transparent shape assets to add depth and lighting to your station and yard environments. Each graphic comes with three different opacities – 75%, 50% and 25% allowing for layering and tonal shading.

The pack compliments all existing content - the above screenshot shows a very quick example combining the Trees and Vegetation pack with the wonderful UK Platforms created by MissCatTrap :) Link below:

Hey sorry for a late reply too! Sure this makes sense. Happy to send (Discord may be easiest or let me know how else) for your consideration.

Hey Adlet! Sorry for the late reply and thanks so much for bringing this up - the screenshots look utterly superb! I'm happy to consider adding some additional shadows to the pack but I'd prefer them to be visually very different to what we have currently. Only reason I say that is to avoid having duplicate versions of existing gradients each with 3 different opacity options that would potentially making the pack a little overwhelming to use :)

Also I found it helpful to change RepeatGrad to attach to a track side and be in floor level (not base) as it means fewer adjustments when attaching to a track. I use bottom at 1.3m and top at 5.1m but it can be anything. Normally for me this is platform or bridge shadow so side placement in floor (above track) seems to be better, at least for my uses.

Hey Vesuvius, great mods and I have been using shadows lately a lot, really make a difference. I have a private mod version where I put in a couple of variations and happy to send to you if you think it may be worth including them into your mod. They are based on your gradients so I don't claim any ownership :) . (1) An angled version of RepeatGrad (I used 50%) - the starting pixels are at an angle and create a softer transition that is helpful for where bridges start or end. (2) A version of RepeatGrad turned 90 degrees - this is helpful as shade for tunnel entrances and platform covers that are typically at ~90 degree angle to the track - using this, they can be simply attached to the track and adjusted, vs. positioning them manually. You can see two examples of (1) and (2) on this screenshot. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3427038519

now just one more question (It's ages late),,, why is the repeating gradient not centered like the other gradients? Like- appending it to a track has me fiddling around to make it fit to the track, while other shadow elements don't exhibit this behavior. The simple gradient I requested to be edited a few months ago, was easier to append than this one :(, as stretching the current repeating gradient to fit means you got to jiggle the exact position of the shadow element to have it fit

Pleasure man! Really great suggestion and it gives us even more options - I'm already using it on my own station platforms! Speeds things up a heck of a lot ;)

thank you so much! It was weird trying to shade a station platform with the old existing simple gradient. It washed out so much at the edges- though the quick fix is amazing! thank you so much!

Hey man! Great suggestion - this has now been added to sit alongside our existing gradient options. I've kept the thickness as stretchy so you can create bigger thicker shadows as needed too! :)

question, why can't the shadow elements of the simple gradient be a repeating instead of a stretch? It's quite annoying if I want to make a station and I have to colormatch the shading in a sense

Hey RagingLightning8192, I've just updated the mod so the shadows now build with the blueprint. I hope that helps - it does make things easier to manage when adding additional blueprints on top of existing built scenery as you're not accidentally moving your shading around! :)

That said, if anyone prefers the older version that essentially keeps the shadows separate from blueprints so they're constantly editable, just let me know and I'll get it back on here as an additional separate mod file :)
