{From the journal of Prof. E. T. C. (Lecturer)}

Day 5: We have finally discovered the location of what I believe to be the ancient temple of the legendary sphinx oracle named Cub-Menneter. The scrolls did not let us down, and a local told us how he discovered the wing-tips while looking for a new water-source. Now begins the long task of uncovering the statue.

Day 68: Finally, we have uncovered the head! Many have flocked to offer help in our efforts; the story of the ancient oracle seems to be a good omen in our endeavors.

Day 215: At last! The statue stands fully uncovered, unweathered - as perfect as the day it was created. Some of the men appear to have gone missing; we suspect they may have been stealing artifacts. Good riddance.

Day 221: More disappearances and desertions. Odd. Today the site foreman reported that he watched a man down tools, stand up, and walk away without a word. Despite being dragged back and thrashed well, the man said not a word and would not make eye contact. He was not in camp the following morning.

Day 233: More vanished. Have requested help. I cannot leave. Foreman nowhere to be found.

Day 240: My fellow scientists are disappearing. I can see no tracks in the sand. Have requested immediate assistance once more. No response.

Day ???: I am alone. It is just me left now. She turns and watches me at night. I can feel her eyes boring into me. Questioning. I shall resist.
