It works for me and my group and friends of mine. We just take banlists from our friends from big servers. If the players were somehow blocked on the servers, then we are not very happy to see them on ours. It's not a question of comfortable playing for everyone, it's a question of comfortable playing for specific people.

You can create your own banlists and at any time remove users who have successfully proven their innocence to you. In any case, only server owners should decide who can join their server and who can't.
