Deep Ones Plus

Description
Adds a few new things to make for a more interesting Deep One run.

New Agent: The Fisherman
Dedicated to helping the Deep Ones, he has the unique abilities tied to his Haul, which can be increased through the "Reel Them In" challenge.

Abyssal Magic and Abyssal Artifacts
Deep One Sanctums now serve as a focal point for Abyssal Magic, either by allowing you to summon sea monsters, or by charging your Ritualist Shards for use further inland. On top of that, you can also find 5 new artifacts centered around helping the Deep Ones.

New Summonable Units
  • Deep One agents: can't beat the classic.
  • Drowned Souls: lost at sea but now enslaved to whoever summons them, they'll guard the caster until they die, or the caster dies. If the caster dies, they'll go on a rampage and attack any living mortal nearby, including your own agents.
  • Trench Crawlers, noncontrollable sea monsters that attack settlements, destroying them and adding a portion of the population to their home Abyssal City. Starts at 50 HP, but once inland will start to lose that HP similar to undead. They will automatically absorb a location's Madness to empower themselves.
  • The Behemoth: a controllable sea monster dedicated to destroying armies weaker than it. Starts at 50 HP, but can be given a boost of temporary health (to a max of 100 HP) at Sanctums or by being fed the Fisherman's Haul. Has the unique "From Below" ability, which allows it to immediately destroy the weakest army in the same location as it, though it will take damage equal to half the army's strength.
  • The Kraken: a controllable sea monster dedicated to disrupting and killing heroes. Starts at 30 HP. Has two abilities: "Ensnare" (5 turn cooldown), which disrupts any heroes in the same location as it, and "Consume Prey" (usage adds 1 turn to Ensnare's cooldown), which kills the disrupted hero with the lowest total Attack stat (the hero's attack + any minions they may have), at the cost of taking damage equal to said stat.
  • The Drowned Prophet: A Deep One entity tied to religious conquest. It, along with its holy order, can be summoned by converting a Deep One cult to a Drowned Prophet cult, which can be done through an Abyssal Tome.
  • The Inundai Court: Deep One entities who like to feast upon the madness created by Deep Ones. They can be summoned by converting a Deep One cult into an Inundai cult, which can be done through the Abyssal Tome.

If either a Kraken or a Behemoth is killed near a coastal location, an "Abyssal Corpse" modifier is added there. Heroes and agents can scavenge the Abyssal Corpse to find items, including Abyssal artifacts.

New Deep Ones
  • Abyssal Priests: can randomly spawn at a Deep One cult. They will travel to neighboring locations and attempt to spread sympathy for the Deep Ones before establishing a new cult. They are often short-lived in their mission and/or life (whichever comes first).
  • Abyssal Ritualists: can randomly spawn at Deep One Sanctums. They have access to Abyssal rituals that can boost existing deep one cults, which are channeled through their Ritualist Shard in their inventory. However, they are often reckless with their magic, and similar to Abyssal Priests may find their lives on the surface short-lived.

Hero and Ruler Responses
AI rulers are now a little more responsive when it comes to Deep One cults. Based on their preferences, they can take actions to support or hinder their local cult. As world panic rises and Awareness spreads, even the most apathetic ruler may start to develop opinions about the rising Deep One threat. The current stance of rulers is signified by the "Deep Ones Prejudice" and "Deep One Sympathies" modifiers.

Heroes who have an unhealthy obsession with Deep Ones may be tempted to travel to a Deep One Sanctum and be cursed with Call of the Abyss.

The Chosen One can now call a Conclave Against the Deep Ones, which will boost the menace of all cults, sanctums, and Deep One agents by 50 if it succeeds.

Breathless rulers should have disliking for deep ones automatically removed from them. Maybe they should get (obsessive) liking for deep ones instead. This matters for cult growth within breathless settlements.

I had some problems with "Direct Control" in my last game, it just said the target was invalid when I had the drowned prophet selected. Investigating more now.

Very fun

Biggest comment I have with the interaction with the DLC is that it is a bit of a pain to be competing with the Innundai to try to get Deep Cathedrals going given that they are also taking from population. Possibly allowing making them at the Innundai Palace could be a fix for that?

Also, for those using the Community Library, it would be cool if the deep one artifacts could show up in shipwrecks

thanks for that fun mod!

When considering motivation to attract deep ones by the inundai, it should ignore abyssal cities that have too low of a population (say less than 20 or something).

I appreciate the fix. What do you think of doing some reworking on abyssal ritualists now that the dlc is out?

@crawlers sorry it took so long but the motivation with the coral statues should be fixed now. I had accidentally multiplied it instead of dividing it. Now the motivation should be the modifier's charge divided by 3.

And just in case I've also capped it at 40.

Appreciate it. I want to resume my savegame but the only spot that the inundai have set up has a cranked motivation for the heroes to banish them.

@crawlers yeah I messed up the math in the motivation calculation. I'll try to get an update made this week that fixes that.
