ARES Station and defence platform

A small station and its accompanying defence platform. I focused on aesthetic/roleplaying over function, so neither are ideal for an efficient design.
These were designed when shield emitters had a dead zone in front of them, and especially with the defence platform does that show. I fixed up the design to be more comfortable and to work properly, but it is by no means optimized to its fullest potential. Fix either up and play about as you please!

Story-wise, I built them with a very bare-bones and cost-cutting look. The station has only the main essentials and four docking platforms for smaller ships, and it likely couldn't sustain a bigger fleet. It's essentially a pirate bay for wayward travelers, smugglers, fugitives and the like. By comparison the defence platforms make it easy to see where most of the money went. Each platform is outfitted with a decent array of weaponry as a show of force, to deter opportunistic scavengers or lightly equipped peacekeeping patrols.
