Description
Welcome to Salmon Valley!

WARNING: This map will require version v0.8.8.15 (Metro-Update) of the game!

Greetings, Comrades!

Salmon Valley is a region with a lot of rough terrain and high mountains. It was designed with the intention to give logistical challenges and a hard life building your city.
Resources are rare and at hardly reachable areas. You have two connections to the NATO- and two to the Soviet-border.

I hope you enjoy the map and have fun.

Wow, this map is incredibly well thought out. It’s a very difficult map that eliminates almost all of the game's exploitable weaknesses.

Oil fields and uranium are hidden very far away. You can’t make easy money early on.

There are two Soviet-side customs houses, but one is very far from the river, so you’ll need to spend over 100,000 rubles just to lay sewage pipes. The other one doesn’t have electricity!

The Western starting area actually has more promising terrain, but... the high interest rates on the Western side make it tough as usual.

Iron and coal aren’t scattered excessively. In fact, they’re quite scarce — but considering you rarely get to fully use all the iron and coal in typical maps, I think this is a reasonable choice.

When you first open the map, it looks like there’s a lot of usable land. But that’s just an illusion. This is the most brilliant aspect of the map — it seems easy, but it’s actually hard.

I'm pretty picky about maps in city sims. I often, or even typically, see people suggest maps that are just not well conceived. But this map....
This is a good map.

This map is really good. It's extremely mountainous while still offering some large areas to build. Resources are located in interesting places that require some thought to set up efficient extraction.

I do have a request though, would it be possible to make the buildings beyond the border in Daugale non-interactable? Currently, they appear to be no different than your own buildings, you can select them to see the usual building info, reconfigure them, and even demolish them. I foresee an issue with this: they might burn down with fires enabled. The first campaign map has buildings beyond the border that are somehow non-interactable, so there must be a way to do it.

@TheHuntsman thank you for your review.

This map is absolutely stacked with huge fucking mountains. I like the way it looks, I love mountain landscapes. But be aware, most of the resources on this map are on those mountains, and they elevation is something to consider. You 're not going to be able to build a big industry park on there. Your natural resources are going to have to travel quite some distance to be refined elsewhere. And you need to get your workers up there as well. It 's still managable though, and fun. There is still enough space that could be flattened to build some towns and industry parks. And you have a lot of ocean to export your goods. Honestly I think challenge is good, as long as it doesn't completely ruin your game, so I would recommend it.

I downloaded so many maps that I wanted to write a short little review of all the ones that I find suitable for playing (if time allows it) to provide myself and others a better idea what to expect... I will share my opinion of what I think is worth playing both functionally and esthetically... I know opinions are subjective so please don't burn me at the stake for my sins.
