Custom Soundtrack - 300 tracks!

Description
Catch your breath while trekking a Desert Canyon, feel your blood boil inside a Lair, get lost into a psychedelic dream between Rainbow Woods…

Ever in games, stayed console open at a location just because the music there moves you? If you never did, I hope to give the same feeling to you with my selection.

Custom Soundtrack includes a lot of themes from many roguelikes. The OG, the best, Mystery Dungeon of course (PMD but also Shiren the Wanderer, even some Etrian and Chocobo's Dungeon!) and many others like Elona, The Binding of Isaac (the roguelikest roguelite), Tangledeep, even Touhou through Genso Wanderer, and more.

  • Enjoy 300+ themes passionately chosen for each location and regions. Each place has its own handcrafted playlist, playing at random sometimes when you enter a zone, change screens, go up/down stairs

  • Region and Tier based music: A village in Hills won't sound like Lake Hinnom, an early game Tier 1 Historic Site will be very different from a late game one. As you get to more and more advanced places, music will become more complex, sometimes more epic, sometimes more sad - soundtrack can and I hope will tell a story.

  • Includes a timer preventing you from having to hear multiple track changes if you travel rapidly in a same location

  • Tamed the huge crossfade effect base Qud uses

  • Provided a patch for the few locations that actually don't play music any different from the region they're in, like the Stiltgrounds.

  • And last but not least, includes instructions on how you can add your own themes to create your own Custom Soundtrack! Check them out here [github.com](outdated).

Notes:

If sound effects get too soft, reduce the Music Volume slider by around 1/3 and raise the volume of your pc.

If you ever crash, make sure you kept the debug option "Disable preloading of sounds" checked (as it is by default).

I can't recommend enough you use good EQ and audio settings to be fully immersed in any music. Check mine here[github.com]

**Special Thanks**
Thanks to Gnarf for making me understand that modding the soundtrack this way is possible

Thanks to Helado whose Music Box mod helped me a lot dip my foot into my first mod

Huge thanks to AlphaBeard (one of Caves of Qud devs) for super kindly adding the possibility for modders to stream songs, along with Ptychomancer for creating the roguelike I could only dream of in my childhood.

And thanks to you for downloading! Enjoy :)

Hearing the wild arms theme violently sent me back to my childhood, 10/10 will always use this mod

Downloaded this mod JUST to remove that one song with the insane horns and drums, kills my ears. So far I'm liking the vibes this mod provides!

@Mosni Heya, don't stress over it too much, you can just include credits and links to original work and that will be appreciated!

Hey, I’m working on a mod that includes characters from another game. Do I need any kind of permissions from anyone for this? Like, how did you handle stuff like this when using tracks or assets from other movies and games? Just wanna make sure I don’t mess things up.

Woo! I did, after about two hours of searching (made me nostalgic for the first times I played qud tbh since I used this mod) find the song I was looking for. Eneomaos Machine Tower if anyone was curious. Excellent song, and works great in the place it plays, Grit Gate!

@Indigo Added the option to display track names on zone entry. When entering a zone and changing screens, if new music is about to play you'll see in your log "Now playing: <author> <title>".
Will update in a minute.

Thank you so much for your appreciation of the mod! That's exactly the feeling I wanted to revive when creating it, playing Mystery Dungeons in my childhood long until the night and leaving the console open to lose myself in the music. So cozy :)

Thanks! Can't play Qud anymore without the mod, but that means I get a lot of unfamiliar songs stuck in my head from less-than-obvious places.
