Lore:
Queen Bark Louse, large female arthropods that carry hives on their back; said hive houses its offspring; which collect food, provide protection and even enable the reproduction of the Bark Louse species.

Diet:
Tree Sap, Leaves, Small tree dwelling animals, fruit, etc.

Active during:
Early Morning - Sunset, will hide far up in trees at night.

Place on the food chain:
Lower Middle.

Reproductive behaviour + life cycle:

Young adult female bark louse will leave the hive after the parent queen louse dies, and will take a group of males with them to start their own hives.

Once the female mates with the males; she will experience a rise in hormones and begin to slowly grow into a Queen and will start to birth more males, these males being workers, soldiers, drones, etc.

These males will build a hive on her back as she grows, and multiple of the drones she creates will re-fertilise her once she runs out of "material" to work with, said material often being recombined to prevent inbreeding.

The female will continue to grow and produce males till it reaches the final quarter of its life; at which point it will experience a drop in testosterone and a rise in estrogen; triggering the birth of female units along with male ones.

Once the Queen Bark Louse birthing these females dies; said females leave with the males as mentioned before, continuing the cycle.

And on a side note: Queen Bark Louse are also known to regularly swap male drones, greatly increasing the available genetic diversity.

Method of movement:
Climbing using its 8 limbs.

Lifespan:
Queen Bark Louse can live for 50-60 years.
But for the units it births, this depends on the type.

Intelligence:
Low.

Location:
Lives its entire life in the canopies of trees, only comes down to move to another tree if absolutely necessary.
