DODGE M37 TOW TRUCK (MOVIE TRIBUTE)

Description

As seen in the 1963 movie "Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" (The movie that Rat Race was a loose remake of) If you haven't seen it and you're into old cars/trucks at all, its a great movie to sit back and enjoy. I highly recommend it.

This is the truck stolen by Johnathan Winter's character from a desert garage and drives up until just before the climax of the movie.

First and foremost, its a lousy tow truck. Yeah, it can shift a car if needed. The boom is fixed and mostly for looks. The winches are underpowered.

This is the first version of an M37 I'm releasing on the workshop. I have a basic U.S. Army marked M37 ready to upload as well. I just had a blast modifying it to resemble the movie truck. I'm currently restoring a 1952 M37 my dad has had for years and figured building one on Stormworks during my free time would be pretty darn fun.

This truck boasts a host of features designed to mimic the real life truck.

Its slow. Maximum speed is 52 mph. This is slightly faster than the truck in real life. At top speed the engine screams at high RPM and threatens to explode- just like a Chrysler T245 straight 6 should.

Four speed manual transmission with a functioning animated gear stick. Had a blast designing that.

First gear is a granny gear. Its insanely slow, but gets you off the line in any terrain.

Low range is ridiculous. Designed to mimic the insanely tall 5.83 ring and pinion gearing the truck has in real life.

Toolboxes under the bed are functional.

Front winch is functional.

Holds 140 gallons of fuel. Decent endurance for a cosmetic build.

Credit given to the creator of the ZF modular engine microcontroller.

Also to a user named "Crash" whose old Power Wagon build inspired me to release the M37. Honestly, check it out. Its got a lot of old parts in it and a vanilla engine, but it drives like butter. Used a lot of his logic to teach myself how to build and gear a vehicle in this game.

I can't for the life of me find the thumbnail folder to update the vehicle photo.
