SCP-205 - Shadow lamps

Special conditions of detention: SCP-205-1 and SCP-205-2 are held in Cell 52 in Area 23 and are under constant surveillance, which is carried out through an adjacent room. The objects must be constantly supplied with electricity and at all times be located in front of a white projection screen on the wall opposite the observation window. Camera 52 requires monthly maintenance, which is carried out to ensure the operability of SCP-205-1 and SCP-205-2, their power supply and remote controls. Replaced parts and lamps should be left in the chamber. Maintenance is suspended during the last month of the SCP-205 cycle, which falls in April and October each year. If the power supply to cell 52 is disrupted, it should be sealed and left in this form for a period of thirty days, after which the local security service should restore the supply for further monitoring and maintenance.

During maintenance, it is extremely important that only one SCP-205 lamp is turned off at a time. If both facilities are shut down or stop functioning normally for some other reason, the cell should be sealed for 30 days, after which the local security service can enter it, restore power and pick up the remains of employees left in the cell.

Until the O5 decides to move SCP-205 to permanent storage, testing and research must continue.

Description: SCP-205 is a pair of lamps. The light emitted by each of them behaves in a unique way, characteristic only of SCP-205: it passes through almost all non-white surfaces. As soon as light comes into contact with a white surface, it is refracted and reflected like ordinary light, while losing all anomalous properties. Since light constantly and freely passes through everything in its path, it does not create shadows, however, when shining on a flat white surface, such as the projection screen in camera 52, each lamp forms the shadow of an unidentified young woman. It is still being investigated whether this shadow corresponds to any living or dead person, although, apparently, the shadow reproduces a certain sequence of events leading to the death of a woman.

Even in the case of a small movement of the lamps, the shadow remains clear, does not lose focus and does not move with the lamps. Only one shadow is cast, although a person standing in front of two lamps should cast two shadows.

With a constant source of energy and maintenance, SCP-205 steam goes through a six-month cycle, which ends every year on April 30 and October 31. Neither the inclusion of an additional day during a leap year, nor brief interruptions in work do not change these dates, that is, the SCP-205 cycle is apparently tied to a standard calendar, and not to certain time intervals.

SCP-205 shuts down at midnight on the last day of each cycle. Any person who has entered or is already in cell 52 during the shutdown of both lamps is subjected to a fierce attack from invisible forces, the impact of which is similar to what happens to the shadow of a woman. This happens regardless of whether there are other light sources in the room or not.

If the lights are turned off at the end of a standard six-month cycle, they can immediately be remotely switched on to instantly eliminate the danger and start a new cycle. If the lights have stopped working for any other reason, Chamber 52 is still considered dangerous and must remain sealed for at least thirty days, regardless of the condition of SCP-205. During the dangerous phase, equipment left in the cell is searched, but SCP-205 lamps are never damaged, although the lamps themselves sometimes move.

SCP-205 Cycle Overview: In the first month of operation, SCP-205 shows an image of one woman in a defiant pose. Although differences in the woman's posture and clothing were noted, the same personality appears to be involved in all cycles. During the last week of the first month, the shadow begins to move a little, as if a person is shifting his weight from foot to foot or experiencing discomfort. Her hair and clothes begin to flutter, although this does not correspond to any atmosphere in cell 52. By the end of the first month, the shadow changes its pose and in the next eight hours goes through a series of poses, implying a full-fledged photo shoot with a change of clothes and short breaks, sometimes with eating.

After the end of this period, the shadow continues to move for the next five months, showing a pantomime of the last days of the young model's life before her brutal murder at the end of the cycle. The shadow of a woman never moves outside the projection screen. Shadows of objects with which a woman apparently interacts do not appear until she picks them up or begins to carry them. Also, the shadows of other people with whom the woman contacts are not visible, except for the last month of the cycle.

Although each cycle is slightly different from the others, certain sequences are observed. For the displayed personality, photography, apparently, is a hobby, an addition to the career of a model. Her behavior implies a lot of social interactions, although with a lack of close relationships, as evidenced by her solitary living, not with her family or partner. In the second or third month of the cycle there is one sexual contact with an invisible partner, in the last month of the cycle there are sixty-six sexual contacts.

During the last month of the cycle (in April and October), shadows appear that are different from the shadow of a woman. All these shadows have hypertrophied male physiology and horns on the skull, although phalluses have never been observed, even during sexual contacts that take place in the last days of the cycle. At first, only one such shadow appears, contacting the woman in a manner suggesting that they met at a party or meeting. Apparently, the woman does not notice the unusual appearance of another shadow and enters into a number of romantic interactions with her. The horned shadow returns, dining with the woman, talking to her and accompanying her on picnics. At a certain moment, a horned shadow introduces a woman to two other similarly horned figures. After the second week of the month, a woman shoots one or more horned shadows during one of their picnics, constantly using a non-digital camera, which systematically appeared in all observed cycles of SCP-205. After this event, sexual contacts occur between a woman and one of the figures, their intensity and frequency increase until the end of the third week.

During the last week of the month, the woman, apparently, for the first time since the shooting of the horned shadow /shadows, looks at the photos on the camera. Her reaction is always the same - shock and horror, her movements after that suggest that she is trying to escape and find shelter behind a closed door, apparently in her house. There she encounters a large number of horned shadow figures who repeatedly rape her during the rest of the week. It is very likely that a woman is killed during this, although the rapes continue until the end of the cycle.
