Time Control Plus

Description
Please note this is a temporary version to provide multiplayer compatibility. A full release will come soon.

This mod adds a new component to the Time Control HUD located in the upper left-hand corner of the screen showing the current year, day of the year (1-8), world time (WT) and current season as an icon.

NOT SURE HOW TO INSTALL MODS? It's easy, you can check out a walk-through here: Sapiens Mod Installation Guide[wiki.playsapiens.com]

MOD HAS AN UPDATE AND YOU DON'T SEE IT? You need to ensure that you update any existing worlds that have the old mod manually, it doesn't update automatically. In the Saves Screen when you have your world selected, in the Mods tab you will see an "Update" button on any mods that have updates available to be applied.

Overview
First a brief explanation of how time progression works in Sapiens. Each game year is divided into 4 seasons, with each season having a duration of 2 game days, meaning a game year is 8 game days. The new control provides the current year, the current day of the year (day 1-8), world time, as well as a graphical representation of the season.

When you begin a game, you will not necessarily start on day 1 as there are many factors that are considered: where on the globe you start, time passed once you have selected your world, time of day at the location you start a new world, and others. The exact spot on the original sundial that a game day changes will be based on the clock marker position when you first started playing a newly generated world. However the day will change at 00:00 UTC on the mod's digital clock, it just won't line up on the sundial to midnight.

More information about time in Sapiens[wiki.playsapiens.com] can be found on the Sapiens Official Wiki[wiki.playsapiens.com].

Seasons

An Apple Tree is used as the season icon and will change based on the current season. A notification will also be shown on the screen along with a sound, however in the notification the tree is always the summer variety.
Spring
- Pink blooms on the apple tree.
Summer
- Green leaves.
Autumn
- Leaves are beginning to yellow.
Winter
- No leaves.

The season indicated by the icon is based only on the day of the year it is, so it is a meteorological season determination. The Sapiens game is built on a planet renderer and the climate model is quite sophisticated. Much like real life the plant foliage and ground cover will change gradually as you approach seasonal boundaries - it is not a dramatic landscape change at the precise time the season changes.

Releases
  • v0.4.0 - Added sounds and notifications for the changing of the seasons, and when a new year starts.
  • v0.3.5 - REALLY fixed the flickering tree issue as well as the skew with extreme FOV values. Changed the time units to WT (World Time).
  • v0.3.0 - Fixed (hopefully) a flickering issue some users are experiencing with the tree. Added hover text over the clock to show the season.
  • v0.1.0 - Initial Release

    Future Enhancements
    • Tooltips on the items with additional statistics
    • Notification of a new year starting

    Known Issues
    • Notification only shows the summer tree.

Created a new world with 0.5 beta. World started at year 1, day 4. (Makes sense if we start half way spring.)
Played for a few ingame days, closed the game. Continued later on and suddenly now it's showing year 1 day 1. Guess something is off when going into winter.

On the time it is way off the time noon to midnight should be 12:00 pm to 00:00 am then for morning should be 01:00 am to 11:00 am. you have it set 0 hundred at night instead of morning.

The plugin has been updated, 0.3.5 is available in Steam Workshop. The tree flickering and extreme FOV skewing is fixed, and UTC is now WT.

hahaha just saw that other people also noticed on it, if you want to be more "back in time", change to text and when time is 5-7 in the morning it says "early morning" 7-10= morning 10-14 = mid day etc. Or perhaps make an option for it, if you feel up to the task :) just a suggestion.

LOL everyone is a comedian. I am going to change it to WT (World Time) shortly.

Amazing that we invented the UTC before we invented how to smash two rocks together

Haven't tried it in a while but will do when I spin the game up again. Thank you

I've never had the versions I have released crashed or see performance issues (first time hearing this from anyone) but I want to take a look if you can provide logs. The graphical anomalies I assume is the flickering, that has been a pain to track down :) You can send me a log of the crash over at GitHub, the link is above in the description under "Support".

Currently causes graphical anomalies, performance issues and even crashed the game.
